hi all,

just updated my info on the list. haven't logged in for months and months and guess what?!?

no news.

waiting for three years plus now.

friends have been urging us to get a lawyer, call our congressman, blah blah... I'm skeptical, but I'm going to make inquiries. meanwhile, has anyone's lawyer or congressman/senator been particularly helpful? from reading these posts it seems like the answer is no.

if anyone else filed in NY and/or has a Taiwan passport, I'd love to hear your experience. or are all the New Yorkers basically ######?

btw, does NOA1 mean the date they mailed my first notice of action (1/2/04), or the date they say they received my app (2/14/03)? just imagine any other government agency issueing a receipt *a year* later...

NOA1 is supposed to be a receipt for when they first begin processing your case.....when they first got their hands on it and put it in the system.

Are you saying it was a year?

Yeah, I think you can get some good from a senatorial or congressional inquiry. They can at least tell you the status of your case. It's not much info, but it's better than a hole in the head.

well one thing is for sure, SOMETHING is going to pass this year, and the more we hear about these positive proposals, the better I feel! And for certain Obama is not the only one behind these kinds of suggestions. This is good news for EVERYONE as it does not only address namecheck issues, but fee increases as well!

this is the most hopeful I have felt to date.

the lawyer I consulted with said sure (but I am unsure if he was focusing on me saying Naturalization as well), I do know some checks can still be valid down the road.
