AOS interview successful, but waiting for FBI name check

The I-485 at question is still pending FBI name check clearance. Once the file has been cleared by FBI, the file will be adjudicated. The Service has NO control on how long it takes FBI to clear the case.

Like I said in the CSC transfer forum I'm pissed...when I emailed them only a week or so ago I got an email telling me they don't accept inquiries from the public and can't tell me anything. All I want to know is what is happening....might I inquire what you said in your email? Maybe I said something to piss them off

We wrote that we were nearing the 6 month mark of our AOS and were considering EAD due to the length of time it was taking. We asked for a case status and expected resolution date, and included the Full name it was filed under, receipt number and "A" number.

That's all, I promise.

hey guys. long time, no see! i just wanted to stop by and give y'all a little tidbit of information that i learned while i was on vacation in hawaii a couple of weeks ago. we were riding the bus, and i started talking to this man who was sitting next to me. Turns out, he works for USCIS. He is now a consular director, but he used to work at the Nebraska Service Center. He also is married to a woman from the Phillipines and went through the K-1 process himself.

We started talking about our case, and how long Anthony was stuck in name-check...and i mentioned that i knew of some people here who had been stuck a LOT longer than we were. He sort of sighed, and said, "yeah, that name check back log is a real mess."

I then asked him, casually, if there was any rhyme or reason as to who may get stuck in name check. He gave me the standard answer about how they check all forms of someone's name, looking for a hit....but then i asked, "does country of origin factor in at all?"

he said, "Absolutely." he said they never really say it out loud, but that they look much closer at anyone who comes from a country with a history of terrorist activities, anyone who has ever been a pilot, anyone who has held previous visas...pretty much, anything that might trigger suspicion.

i don't know that that particularly helps....but i did think it was interesting to hear that information...much different than the answers i've gotten when i asked at my district office.

i'm hoping that you all get good news SOON! you've been waiting way too long already!
