G&C, Everybody gets the namecheck, regardless of country, or name or whatever. Source to confirm this include (but is not limited to):

An explanation of the immigration security check system was issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services April 25 in response to some applicant frustration about delays in the process.

All applicants for a U.S. immigration benefit are subject to criminal and national security background checks to ensure they are eligible for that benefit. The agency acknowledges a small number of delays, but assures the public they are not based on race, ethnicity, religion or national origin.

The text of the fact sheet follows:

Immigration Security Checks—How and Why the Process Works

Background

All applicants for a U.S. immigration benefit are subject to criminal and national security background checks to ensure they are eligible for that benefit. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Federal agency that oversees immigration benefits, performs checks on every applicant, regardless of ethnicity, national origin or religion.

Hope that helps

I am sending ((greencard)) vibes to all those waiting it is unbearable I know.

I have a question, is the name check done again at time of lifting conditions? I know they do the fingerprint check again, but was not sure about the name check. I don't recall this being asked before.

Thanks for this!

So then if everyone is checked, what causes the delays? Perhaps some countries of origin have more rapid response? Any thoughts on this? I still do not buy into the premise that there are not some flags for detailed scrutiny or some specific causes for the time to get these done (other than incompetence)

Country of origin has something to do with response time, yes.

Your name being the same or similar to a person named in an FBI file has something to do with it. Your birthdate range is also used in conjuntion with the name hit.

Prior visas, numerous entries, and any other immigration issues can have something to do with it.

FBI infrastructure has more to do with it than anything. Too many unlinked databases; too many paper files in too many separate storage facilities; too little manpower.

So I got my husband to leave work early and meet me at my office to call the USCIS. Once through they typed in my zip code and said that my office (NYC) is now processing cases sent December 2005 so the woman could not make a request on my case. So one lady told me I am outside the time because Im outside 90 days, and the other one said I am not because of the delay at my local office. I tried to tell her I think the December 2005 pertains to people getting an interview and not for people like us who have had them already but she said she was not ALLOWED to make a request due to the processing times and where my case was filed, her system would not allow it. So it was all a waste! Will have to go to Infopass in March when we can both take days off...and the wait continues.

im sorry to hear that husker. have you thought about filing a WOM? I have also been given great advice by the lawyer I consulted with. Will post later.

As far as the oldest on the list, maybe i am just being pessimistic, but hardly anyone comes on to update us much less their timelines, so i have no idea if the list is accurate at all.

for good measure :D

huskerfan...uve had 3 biometrics already? wow...ours expired back in may and we never were sent to get more taken. it makes me wonder if our file is lost somewhere and thats why they never ordered new ones.

just sent today for the second renewal of the EAD and im not a happy camper to dish out yet another $180.00 for it either.

Question for all. One of the jobs that I held here in the states required me to get finger-printed and checked by the FBI. Do you know if that will help expedite the process at all?

Nope. You could have done something evil in the meantime. :o *runs and hides*

Actually, it MIGHT but I kinda doubt it. Our lawyer told us that WOM could help prevent further delays during lifting and natz. In other words a resolved namecheck would be in place that would then follow my husband's immigration path.

However, you are talking about a check probably for a private agency? I doubt with the FBI record keeping system, they would be able to link that old check to your new A number.

Hey all, I was wondering who's been waiting the longest now. I know I am getting close!!!! We filed for AOS on July1, 2004. My third set of biometrics are due to expire in March!!!!

I thought for a while that I was the longest... AOS filed in January 7th 2years ago. Sorry to hear about your wait time.

Considering WOM? Or how much longer you think you will wait?

I had second biometrics taken in September and I am loosing hope. Nobody seems to be able to tell me why nothing is happening.

Last time I called they told me not call before 6 months after I got a responce on Service Request #1 which was August 17th.

Does that mean everytime I inquire about my case I am giving them another 6 months of doing nothing?

Without filing the "WOM" or what it's called how long can this take. Forever?

Is there anything else that could be done besides contacting senators and congresmans?

The only this that is holding us back at this point to file the WOM is the lawyers fees.

Also even though my green card should be for 10 year I will do not have to spent $400 for removing the condition I have already spent $600 on two EAD and AP renewals and I will have to do another 350 in June. Don't ask how am I on 3rd EAD at this point...

Oh one more thing. I am note sure how much the country of origin has to do with the security checks. Two of my friends from the same country just had their GC processed. total processing time 3 and 4 months.

That is frustrating.

Seriously is there anything I can do to make them touch my case?
