ooooh they took your AP & EAD?? i would be pissed! hopefully they were set to expire shortly afterward.

Several of us have renewed our EAD & AP when stuck in this situation.

Yes, they took both the EAD and the AP, and we didn't even have copies (stupid!). We asked when she took them what we should do if R needed documentation before the green card showed up, and she said 'just let me know'. And then didn't reply to messages... How long is an EAD usually good for? We don't know when his expires, but we're going to try to get it back.

they are good for a year from effective date. if you have the receipt number, you may be able look it up online.

if an interim EAD was obtained, it could be for a shorter period of time. I would make another infopass appointment if I were you. Maybe the EAD & AP are in your file. They shouldn't have called to cancel your appointment just because you wanted to ask a question about your case.

They canceled because federal offices (in Montana, anyway) are taking off Tuesday to honor Gerald Ford. We can't reschedule until the end of January, now, but we're hopeful that they'll be able to pull out the EAD and the AP then. And maybe stamp his passport? Or does that only happen after the FBI clearance comes through?

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL OF YOU! Im just wondering if any of you have tried to use form G-731 Inquiry About the Status of

I-551 Permanent Registration Card?

click this to see what is this form look like. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/g-731n-eng.pdf

i see two problems with using this form.

1. we all sent our applications to Chicago/MSC. this form is specifically for the TSC/VSC/NSC/CSC locations

2. we are not approved, and this form states it's to be used by approved applicants that have yet to receive their card.

Have you tried sending it in, and what was your result?

no one i know on this thread has obtained the stamp prior to being cleared by FBI. I should add, many do not receive the stamp even if FBI namecheck is a non-issue. I'm sorry they are giving you these obstacles. Even to mess up an Infopass appt!

I don't believe there is any way to get the stamp in your passport until everything is complete and your application is approved. We were lucky, in that at one of our infopass appointments, we were able to discover that the application had been approved and the greencard had been ordered. even then, we really had to push to get them to stamp the passport! i sort of planted my feet defiantly and said i wasn't leaving the office without the stamp, because we needed that as proof of residency so anthony could get a student loan.

ugh...sorry to hear they messed up the infopass appointment. hopefully you can reschedule!

not as i understand it. our files are sent by us to Chicago then forwarded on on the National Benefits Center (MSC) and then again on to our local offices. There is no general sevice center involvement (VSC/NVC/CSC/TSC) CSC may come into play if you are transferred.

In your case Detroit has more to do with your case than Nebraska ever did (as far as AOS)
