I have to agree with all those still waiting who say it's NOT necessarily easier to wait for something together!

We didn't have to wait long for the approval after name check, and I'm grateful for that. I did NOT feel at home in this country until I had the GreenCard in my hands.

Before, my unclear status scared me every day. Yes, I was with my husband, yes, I worked, yes, we bought a house, but every once in while I couldn't help thinking "oh my, what if they send me back..." Not very reasonable, I know, but I couldn't help it.

So I totally sympathise with those waiting and check this threat frequently, hoping for progress.... (F)

Now waiting 16 months in damn FBI check. spoke to 'customer service helpline' yesterday - what a joke that is, the person i spoke to must have been new, she had absolutely no clue what the hell i was talking about and kept ' can i put you on hold' while i make up a load of bollocks, then coming back still none the wiser.

Doodles you are wasting your time calling the misinformation line about the status of your case.

You are now at the point where the you must INFOPASS if you wish to make any headway whatsoever.

i only call the helpline once a month to send a *service request* to Tampa, hell if I know what happens after that, but maybe it would result in them pickingup my file and checking the completed namechecks. Other than that the misinformation line is useless.

Luc you are now to the point where you might consider etching out a plan for legal action.

Here's a link to a PAC that I have joined. They are working to see that any immigration legislation that passes Congress includes amendments protecting families in the areas of waivers and namechecks.

i think the recommendation for WOM for greencard is 2 years post-interview, or a grey area called *reasonable amount of time*.

Right.

That's why I said 'start etching out a plan' - rather than go hire a lawyer NOW! ;)

Excellent. It can't hurt!!

Yes we spoke to a lawyer and we have been told that year after the interview we could file some lawsuite to request decision or something...

But it is little pricy so we have not yet decided...

we are kind of thinking it has to happened right... I dont know

I will check out that link for sure

thanks

Laura that's good information.

Me personally - if we ever file a WOM, I'm using an attorney. I realize the mere filing of one can spur action and possibly get the desired result, but I want big guns behind me if it doesn't work out.

Working for a law office myself, I just wouldn't feel comfortable filing pleadings on my own - I've seen the perils of Pro Se representation and it ain't pretty.

Luc, when you are looking for an immigration lawyer, you don't have to use the guy who lives near you.

Immigration law is under federal statute and thus any attorney in the country can represent you. It doesn't have to be someone in your state. So find one you believe can competently represent you and whose fees you feel are fair and reasonable.

Unfortunately, all you can do is wait it out.......

I have an appointment with immigration about my wife's AOS. Past two years married and no word but sent to California February 2005. Maybe it is a Brooklyn, NY thing, since we are in Brooklyn as well. Damn, I do not want to put our 1 year old daughter through immigrant hell with a bunch of semi-literates screaming at us this Thursday, but you all tell me I should go through with it. I figure it will be an 'experience" to remember .

BCINS - horrible at best?

infopass appointment this morning....

WE'RE APPROVED!!!!!

we found out this morning that Anthony's AOS was approved on Monday, November 13!! they assured us that a welcome notice should arrive in the mail any day...and that the green card should be here in 2 weeks. well, given their previous performance, i pushed until i was able to get them to agree to stamp his passport. so...we left the office with a beautiful red I-551 stamp, even if she did write "30 days validity only" in giant letters across the page.

so then we came home to find a total of 5 emails informing us that the welcome letter had been approved. yipee!!!!!!!!!!!!

i can't even begin to tell you all how much i hope that your petitions are also completed SOON!! this journey is really so taxing.

...now...to find that man of mine a J.O.B.
