AOS interview successful, but waiting for FBI name check

Our timeline seems like nothing compared to some of you on here, but, i am still impatient!

We had our AOS interview August 24th, approved pending FBI check and haven't heard a thing since. No welcome to america letter and no green card most unfortunate of all! As we are coming up on 60 day marker here, i was wondering if this is normal? if we should take some sort of action and ring up USCIS?

Still no word for us....It'll be one year from our "APPROVED< BUT WAITING FOR NAMECHECK INTERVIEW"

for us.

I thought the advanced parole is just for that reason....to travel while in pending status. Looks like we will have to apply for one next spring.....really had hoped the green card would of came by now.

It brings people closer, but still frustrating; and so sick of hearing people say.....You havent got your green card yet?????!!!With "that" look about them!

Sorry for my venting everyone.........

Thanks a lot ,dani_christine . It was nice to read your post but I'm not desperate only sad sometimes. We are just tired from endless paperwok. But you know what I mean. I 'm here on K-3 and which is still valid and so now I don't need AP to travel but it expires in February and probably I will because no sign of green card yet.

I would like to know what Patric A meant. If he knows what to do why he didn't say anything.

I think one can try many things to propel this process. There are some times where a file lays about on someones desk and making an infopass appointment can get it moving again.

However, by and large I now believe there is absolutely nothing that can be done to move most cases forward, and the best thing we all can do is TRY WHAT METHODS ARE AVAILABLE TO US and DOCUMENT DOING SO.

If there is indeed the tremendous backlog which we are learning about, how in the world can we expect our individual cases to be extracted from that food chain and somehow pushed ahead of the other hundreds of thousands in line ahead of us?

I'm not advocating complacency. Not by a long shot. I'm advocating taking responsibility for your file while at the same time collecting data which can be used to bring the root cause of the problem to the forefront.

mzap we interviewed August 30th in Garden City, NY also pending name check and my husband is also from the UK. The officer seemed complacent about it all and while he said that it was "very strange" that the namecheck had not been done since biometrics were done in mid-may, we could tell it was almost a routine speech of his. He said to call the USCIS hotline once 3 months had passed if we didn't have anything. So that's what I'm going to do, then I will take more action from there if I have to. Infopass would be the next step for me.

MZAP...to answer your question

We contacted immigration attorney (monthly)

We telephoned USCIS (numerous times)now they sent us a letter saying to contact them again in six months

We contacted State Senator (twice)

We contacted our Congressman (twice)

We called the Fingerprint phone (listed on earlier thread) to find out the fingerprints were ok'd

We made three infopass appts (still say waiting for namecheck everytime)

Our next step is to write to the ombudsman......as the trail continues.......................

We are documenting everything, don't know if that will do ANY good!

This is one year since our "approved interview pending namecheck" status!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well...i know compared to some, this is still a fairly short wait we've had, but tomorrow is 121 days since our AOS interview. we have another infopass appointment in the morning.

well...here's a little update from our infopass appointment today. :)

we were SO fortunate to get the same officer at this appointment as we had at the last one...a really nice gentleman by the name of Taji. he has gone so far above and beyond to help us! anyway, after waiting for about 2 1/2 hours this morning, we were finally able to learn that our file has now been moved from our adjudicating officer's desk to his supervisor's desk for final approval, and of course, we should hear something "...in 30 days..."

USCIS has an online newsletter that they publish each month. If you visit USCIS.gov you can easily find it by clinking on 'What's New'.

Here's a couple of little factoids published in the Backlog Elimination article. Statistics are as of September 2006.

4,905 applications incomplete pending a request for full investigation by other federal agencies (whatever that means - maybe AR?)

130,091 applications incomplete where the applicant has been interviewed but the FBI name check is not complete.

Ummmmmm...wow. Nice to know our tax dollars are working towards efficiency :blink:

But on the flipside, if someone actually is a criminal and they apply for a Greencard, they have a good long time to stay here, work, and reap other benefits, before the FBI even takes note :wacko:
