Hi Norma - I called them yesterday as I posted above. I selected the option of Immigration on the auto-attendant, got a switchboard operator, told them I wanted to speak with someone regarding immigration fingerprinting. The rep who answered looked us my husband's "A" number and confirmed prints were received and returned.

This has no bearing on the namecheck. Its just another possible hiccup to eliminate as a problem.

I just called the number as well and received a similar verification. Interestingly enough the date of processing was the same date as the bios were taken (probably not all the amazing as the Fingerprint center is up the road from us about 60 miles and less than 125 miles from the sub-station where Wes was printed).

Upon further probing of the operator, she stated that this means they returned the print results to USCIS. USCIS has to take the next step of forwarding the prints onto the namecheck center.

So how does one know THAT'S been done?

This whole fingerprinting biometrics madhouse is unbelievable.

I thought I started to understand but I must admit I am completely lost again.

I thought name check went hand in hand with fingerprints as one big thing... But I guess not from what I read...

I have received second Fingerprint notice last week and went this past Saturday.

I was under the impression that my background check was pending... Which I thought included FP and name check

So is it possible that the FP never made it to the FBI and the whole thing is just laying somewhere doing nothing?

And when my fingerprints were done again what does that mean?

Should I call FBI at the number that is circling around and ask them what was done?

Jan-09-2005 ~ Filled I-485 together with EAD and AP (sent to Chicago)

Jan-12-2005 ~ NOA (I-485 and EAD Biometrics notice received)

Feb-02-2005 ~ AP Email: APPROVED

Feb-07-2005 ~ AP came in mail, 26days (since Jan12 NOA)

Feb-26-2005 ~ I-485 and EAD Biometrics in New York, NY

Mar-02-2005 ~ I-485 Notice: "Your Fingerprints results received…" 48days

Mar-02-2005 ~ EAD Email: APPROVED

Mar-05-2005 ~ EAD in mail: The card starts on Feb 05, Nice...

Mar-07-2005 ~ Interview Notice for October 6th 2005 in Garden City, NY

Oct-06-2005 ~ Interview: Background checks not completed

Jan-09-2006 ~ What a coincident ;) E-filled For EAD and AP renewal

Jan-25-2006 ~ right index finger fingerprinted and photo taken

Sept-15-2006 ~ AP renewal approved 247 days

Sept-21-2006 ~ EAD renewal approved 253 days

Sept-30-2006 ~ 2nd Biometrics appointment

June-18-2007 ~ E-filed yet another Work Permit and AP renewal :(

After 2 years, 6 moths and one day I have received this email:

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.

Thank you very much about the time

Well, atleast you did your 10 digit prints. In my case, we had our AOS interview back in June already and we were only asked to do the code 2 print and photo for EAD. At the interview we were told that the name check has not been completed yet, no mention of finger prints, which leads me to belive that this will be a problem later when they realize they dont have the prints.

#1. Maybe. Common sense tells me that if there's a 'name hit' a set of prints will probably help clear the hit.

#2. I think that's a good sign. My opinion is that a lot of these long-standing cases are resolved after a second set of prints are called for.

#3. Couldn't hurt. At least it will make you feel like you're doing something. Document it and get a name. I'd inquire about both printings. Have your A# handy when you call.

I was also told that last year there were 3.5 million requests for checks, and that there is currently a backlog.

Gee. No kidding.

What's gonna happen when they heap 10 million EWI's into the mix?

Have you NEVER given a 10-digit set of prints?

we're going to have this workflow down by the end of it I think  . I guess its another step for us to trace. I am still not feeling like there is any sort of problem in our case, however I do feel we would not be here already (AOS stage) if I wasn't proactive in our K1 case. Dani is right, keep a pulse on it.

I have been trying to attach the memo I received from Senator Nelson, to no avail. Looks like a bunch of junk on 1st glance. I really have to sit down and actually read it :P

This makes me wonder about out June 22 'touch'.

Makes me think somebody at USCIS found Wes' prints in his file and decided they might want to forward them off to the FBI. After all, it had only been 6 months since they were processed.

If that's what happened, and the 90 day window for normal print processing started that day, we are still outside the norms.

Supposedly less than 1% of cases take more than 90 days to resolve. I'm not buying into that nonsense.

The fee for renewal of EAD should be waived if the interview has been conducted. If the petitioner and beneficiary have complied with the law, they should not be gouged for the inefficiency of either USCIS or FBI. It's piracy at its worst.

also from what I have read there is NO first in - first out policy with regard to the namecheck.

What the heck did your Senator send you THAT for?

That's information regarding an order of removal. It does reference what to do if the removal is ordered because of an AOS denial. Which could happen if somebody forks up your paperwork....

I guess it falls under the Boy Scout category to me - 'be prepared'.

Question: Have you NEVER given a 10-digit set of prints?

Answer: I had a 10 digit set of prints taken bafore but not for this petition, it was for a completely unrelated petition early in 2005

Yeah but I bet your A number is still the same.

Are they actually exhibiting efficiency here? If they are my guess is you may be ok.
