AOS interview successful, but waiting for FBI name check

zxed--if it's been past 90 days since you applied for EAD, you can make an infopass appointment and they will issue the EAD on the spot.

thats what i did, called the customer service line who told me to go to santa ana,got there on the 26th, who told me they dont do them at the sub office anymore,. claimed that my apps where somewhere in the mail room, and then that they were in la., and then that they were with an officer.... then back to original story that they are in the mail room and theyll will find them and send it (ead, travel) for processing (its day 92)... so i went home made another info pass for the same thing at the los angeles DO, drove there, and was told the same., "we dont process them here"... i didnt know about the ins flyer that was out on the 6th of sep. about ead processing.... LA said that my ead and travel are on the way to nbc on the 26th, and they gave me a sheet asking me if santa ana gave it to me., which they didnt (its page 3 of the memo that was out on the 6th)

27th and 28th., my travel + ead was touched., but nothing happened on the 29th i dont even care abt the GC, u just want my EAD and travel so i can finally leave and work again., ill be back to deal with the GC later...

After finally reading the current 37 pages of this thread, I can only say "Uh-oh, we maybe hosed..."

I guess there is hope, its only been a month and half so far. Of course, online tracker has not been touched since June when they sent an RFE for translated copies of birth certificates, we we sent, and they recieved long before the interview August 14,2006.

Apparently they didn't do this before they gave us a K-1 Visa? What a fouled up system. Thank god we are at least married and waiting together. It would be horrrible to be in the "black hole" in two different countries.

Just don't expect the online tracker to be updated and you'll be a whole late more sane!

Wes' case status has only been updated once in the last 10 months. There was a touch on Dec. 28, 2005 and another on June 22, 2006.

I've always found our particular scenario to be so completely absurd, as our interview was March 9, 2006. I could see our AO 'touching' our file.....it was right there on his desk in front of us.

i was going to fly out with wife on dec 15th., today i checked schedule + fare., no seats until dec 18th., fair is now $2500 per ticket instead of $1550

this sucks.,

I know the "touched" means nothing but I'd love at least a little grope. Just some sort of USCIS action :lol:

I dont know how much the online update after the biometrics means, because we did get both our EAD and our AP in the mail though none of our online cases were ever updated to say they biometrics were done. Who knows? It's all insane. :wacko:

i was going to fly out with wife on dec 15th., today i checked schedule + fare., no seats until dec 18th., fair is now $2500 per ticket instead of $1550

this sucks.,

wife just got back home from work and called me to tell me that the travel docs came.!!!!

if they work on ead + travel the same day, will the ead take longer to process?

AP & EAD were approved on 12/27/05, I received my AP, but the EAD did not come for another 2 months.

well we were not aware it was approved until after the fact. the operator at USCIS advised me of that when I called to complaing that my 2/17/06 received EAD had an effective date of 12/27/05 on it. I was complaining because it was backdated.

Long winded answer, well, you have to provide the employer proof of authorization to work. Without the EAD I am not sure how you would achieve this.

a little note on EAD's:

you are technically allowed to work with an adjustment pending. period. the EAD is to show that you are, if a new employer asks you for it. if you were to, let's say, take a job on jan 1 and your EAD then ran out on dec. 31 of that same year, and your new EAD would come in the mail in, for example, march...would you stop working for 2 months? would your employer care? would anyone?

a resounding "no".

as a matter of fact, i have had 3 EADs through two sponsorships (one employment case which was approved but i abandoned it since it took forever to get a "visa number") and i never showed my EAD to anyone...because i am SELF-EMPLOYED! sometimes, just for fun, i would show it to myself and feel so approved.

my point: this year, if my EAD runs out prior to my GC (ugh), i will not renew it and pay the USCIS another $180 to have it sit in my drawer. if you have a secure job with no reason to re-prove that you are legal and you are waiting for your GC, i suggest you forget that stupid EAD. it's a rip-off and even my lawyer told me so. (if you work with a pending adjustment you are doing so legally. you are...what's that word? oh, yes...entitled.)
