It's a shame they make people go through these long waits!

I sure know what it feels like, it took our K1 application over nine months to get approved, security checks were the reason we were given....

So the name clearance happened much faster than I anticipated.

Still rooting for you all here!!!

Conditional Permanent Resident since September 20, 2006

Conditions removed February 23, 2009

I am extraordinarily patient,

provided I get my own way in the end!

Congrats Mrs Johnson

It looks like people are falling off this list lately and that is a very good sign!

Any updates from your Senator?

We received a letter from him....basically it stated that he was glad to help us with inquiries, but that he has no real 'power' over them (paraphrasing poorly here). Also stated in the letter that he would be glad to inquire again.

Congratulations all of you who got the "happy letter"..

I wish I were falling off the list, too. But it seems that it's especially true for those who had recent interviews. I'm not sure what that means...I'm afraid it means that my application is just stuck somewhere in a double-check pile that no one is paying attention to.

I went to an Infopass appointment last week, which was a waste of time. They told me I should come back in 4 months...yeah, thanks. Anyway, it's been over 4 months now since my interview (5/9/06), I've contacted the Ombudsman, my 2 senators and my congresswoman. The Ombudsman's office said they sent an inquiry to USCIS and that they should respond in 45 days.

I have to renew my EAD and AP in a month or so. I am seriously considering filing a Writ of Mandamus lawsuit. Seems to be the way to go, judging by the experiences of some people stuck in name check for long periods of time. It's been 8 months since my name check was submitted (they told me january 2006, before my biomentric appt.).

Before I waited for this adjustment of status through marriage, I had an approved employer's sponsorship, which was stuck forever because visa numbers were unavailable. i dropped that case to re-file through my husband. My total process for a green card has been 5 years now, and two cases, and close to $9,000...

Unreasonable wait? I think so..

Babyzee, being in NY does not help either :crying: Where was your interview?

I read on a few immigration law sites that contacting a Senator or Congressman does not help at all since they cannot influence the FBI or get a judgment to be made. It says that all the inquiries slow up the FBI from actually making the name checks, and slows up the whole process, so it is highly discouraged. I don't know if I buy it though.

well if thats the case then they need a work-around. no one will stop inquiring about their cases, too bad so sad FBI. There are a few benefits that stem from making these inquiries.

Confirming status

Uncovering possible errors (as we have seen in this thread!)

Unreceived mail (what if your welcome letter/gc does not get delievered?)

EAR (exhaustion of administrative remedies)documentation which is important to file a WOM (writ of Mandamus)

We just have a schedule to stick to and we will be utilizing all methods each benchmark :star:

hi guys,

my interview was in new york, at 26 federal plaza. though the name checks all go to the FBI in DC, so that should not make a difference. except that the officer here in NY has probably a gazillion people like me clamoring for infopass appointments and wanting their GC...and she's probably putting all those inquiries on that big dusty pile next to her desk.

i know that inquiries supposedly slow the process, but as you said, i don't buy it. i think inquiries just annoy them and they want us to stop calling and writing and WHINING! but i feel like i paid a lot for this card, i also have been paying taxes (in other words federal salaries) here since 1995, so they can kiss my b..eehive.

someone in a yahoo group on this subject wrote recently that his senator and the ombudsman inquiry seem to have helped, since he got his welcome letter shortly after. who knows, it may have been a coincidence, but in our situation, who wants to leave that to chance?

at least i feel like i have some sort of process i can apply myself to.

i would think this IS a good sign...fingerprints expire at 15 months... you are quite a bit past that. lets hope the completion of the FBI namecheck triggered them to realize your prints expired so they can issue the gc! we can hope!

(i would also summize that ANY action is good when in the black hole!!)

I'm part of the club that thinks the checks come back in a timely fashion but then sit on a desk somewhere until they're matched to your file. I don't see how contacting anyone can hurt.

Well, it with great pleasure (for me anyway!), that I am now approved, having had my "Welcome to America" letter today. It's kind of a bitter sweet moment really, and a real anti-climax, especially after both of us hyping ourselves up for the interview only to wait another 8 weeks for confirmation. I know there are quite a few people on that have been waiting infinitely longer than me, which seems highly unfair.

I know I should sound a lot more grateful, and deep down I'm really really happy! I think it will sink in over the next few days. It's a great thing as our 2nd wedding is only a few weeks away, so I'm going to do a little speech, and hopefully wave the green card around!

Anyway, please would someone kindly update me?

Thanks, and I sincerely hope that some of you get the news you so desperately deserve soon.
