AOS interview successful, but waiting for FBI name check

I often wonder the same thing and have occasionally kicked myself for not doing the CR1. If I knew then what I know now I definitely would've gone that route.

Do you really think so? I've thought the same myself but I've kind of assumed that the CR1 would have been protracted by this check. Am I wrong?

i dont think so Rebecca. there is definately a difference in dealing with clearances overseas vs. stateside. As we have seen on here, it can take years for some to clear. I guess I should look back and see how these *years* ones came to the US.

i dont think so Rebecca. there is definately a difference in dealing with clearances overseas vs. stateside. As we have seen on here, it can take years for some to clear. I guess I should look back and see how these *years* ones came to the US.

That's what I mean. I've always felt (barring the separation endured due to processing length) that CR1 is the preferable family visa. But - now that we are experiencing our inordinate delay, I've been glad we didn't do a CR1 because it might have been EVEN LONGER.

If I understand all the required CR1 forms correctly, none of them are run through FBI name checks. USCIS can view the results of the IBIS checks quickly while the FBI ones are a whole 'nother story.

*If we had filed for the CR1 being away from my husband would've been difficult, but the distance to/from Canada would've made visits easier, a luxury I know not all have. Staying in Canada and waiting out the CR1 process would've at least allowed me to have a functioning life until we were together. At times I do feel that the CR1 vs. K1 delay would've been worth it, I usually feel that way when I start dwelling on our 'pending' situation. And before anyone gets the wrong idea, yes the happiness of being here with him outweighs all the other cr*p, and I am grateful that we can go through it together rather than apart.

updating because i have no life....

added visa type, removed 2nd time biometrics taking (incidental to expiring), added NOA1 date (since someone said namecheck begins back then), removed gc received (also incidental - anyone with an approval has to wait), updated some countries. Many do not have timelines and I have the signatures turned off. feedback welcome, i have no life and could add/remove as needed :lol:

An update for Carina (dcl766); yesterday we went to the ASC for the second time for new fingerprints for her. We are hoping this is the last hurdle and that her welcome letter is next up.

My interview was passed today in detroit and im from the UK.

So why does it feel like i failed anyway? Its so unfair to us all.....

Interview - February 13th APPROVED! day 152

April 6 - wedding date day 204

Aug 22 - AOS interview date day 101-total days 342

Sept 29 - green card arrives, done until June 2008 day 140-total days 381

2008

June 30 - I-751 mailed total days 1025

2009

March 9 - Removal of Conditions approved! total days 1277

I think my NOA1 was 13th april, i cant remember the exact finger printing date because they took the letter.

Im pretty sure it was around julyish though.

Do they update your online case status with "approved subject to name check" or anything? Because mine hasnt changed from their responce to my RFE way back in june...

It would be nice to have something in black and white to check now and then.
