AOS interview successful, but waiting for FBI name check

I'm sick and dammit tired of this.

I just contacted the office of Senator Robert C. Byrd. I am told a caseworker will contact me either later today or Monday.

I have skipped the InfoPass step as I don't see it doing me much good. The Pittsburgh District Office was kind enough to give us an e-mail address so that we could follow up on the case status. I have used that address with economy and have always received a reply, although they have been able to tell me nothing other than 'still pending'. I don't believe there is anything more they can do to move this along.

It has been 163 days since our interview. This is nuts.

Hello, today i had an info pass appointment. The officer said they sent the file to Cali and they working on it. You will get it he was repeating several times. So you do not need an appointment. It's waist of your time/

Our case was touched 2 times this week. May be because i called and requested a refferal? Who knows?

We feel your pain...Unfortunately senators, congressman, didnt help us at all...All they could say is that they sympathize with us, and that its a different world out there...We just want to get on with our lives..

At the infopass, all they would say is"the bright side is you will get a 10 year green card if you dont get you green card by your second wedding anniversary"..that was suppossed to make us feel better?!!!!!!!!!

Our interview will be one year in October, and we had to find out on our own that it was pending due to name check. My husband has a uncommon name, he doesnt even have a middle name and comes from a small country---but that didnt make it any easier.

This system sucks and needs a redo!!!We have also done everything by the book, also hired a lawyer, nothing seems to work. Unfortunately the fingerprints expire for us as well (everyones does after 15 months) and we were told by info pass that they wont reschedule those yet either..

Patience is a virtue, but I'm ALL OUT!!! VJ has been my only bright spot.Hang in there!!!

Next time you update, his BIO was 5-13-06.

This step has been unbelievable! I was prepared for, but pleased, with our short 4 month ADMIN review while waiting for his Visa. I have seen many others from Pakistan wait much longer. His EAD was a breeze, using it was not! Took 10 flippin weeks to get a soc sec # :bonk: .

It was really hard not to be a smart a** in his AOS interview - "what do you mean FBI name check, why don't you just read what is in his file from his FBI name check 3 months ago??"

Grrr!!

Some of the timelines above make me nervous! But at least we can be nervous together :yes:

Sent a follow-up letter to the CIS Ombudsman today as it is now past the 45-day period they asked us to wait before checking with them again.

Yesterday we returned from our trip to Moldova and encountered little problems in using Carina's AP. Most trouble we had was using the wrong form they gave us on the plane (used the green instead of the white), but when we got to the POE they just had us to do it over.

The POE officer responded that "we are making more work for him" when we announced that Carina had the AP document instead of the green card. Lucky him, he got to hear the whole story about WHY we have the AP instead of the green card:) He was just kidding about the more work comment, but I think he sensed my frustration after I responded to when he said that. He even said something about doing a background check (on me??) to try an intimidate me, but I thought he was talking about Carina and I was like "we've done the background checks!!" and he smiled and that's when he said he was just kidding.

All in all Chicago POE is pretty relaxed, and the rest of the time he was pretty friendly.

Glad to be back safely.

Well I have some good news.

My son received his Green Card on August 17th/06. :dance:

All the information is correct on the card , which is what I was praying for.

Good luck to everyone that is waiting (F)

Now I am just waiting for my card to be returned to me with the correct information on it.

Still waiting for our cards...Had to file I-90 as they sent them to the wrong address.

March 9th, 2010, Received GC that has been lost in the mail for 10 months. Still waiting for my son's that is lost as well.

Filed Waiver for my son's 10 year GC and it was approved. He finally received his GC after its been missing for 2 years.

Thanking God this is over for 10 years.

At my interview the officer said he was "sending us his decision" - no mention of FBI background checks -- the letter we received with "an additional review of your case is required before a determination can be made as to your eligibility" ticked. There is a seperate section reading "Fingerprints have been submitted to the FBI, however, a response is still pending" which was not ticked. FBI background checks was not specifically mentioned for us on this letter.

Is this FBI background checks or is it something else? I have noticed a few users go through LA with similar NOA1 dates (one with an NOA1 after us from the same country) who were approved the day of the interview.

I have scheduled Infopass but I hold out no hope of getting it resolved especially as the letter states "inquiries will not be accepted until 180 days after your interview" Probably a morning of my life I will never get back, but the lack of clarity is driving me spare.
