good news at the infopass appointment today.

WE'RE OUT OF NAMECHECK!!!!!

according to the officer we spoke to, we should be receiving our Welcome to America letter within 30-45 days.

woo hoo!

rebeccajo...sorry...i asked her if it had anything to do with NI, and of course, i got the standard andser...she can't tell me anything. ugh!

i tried to get a letter from her today, or a stamp in the passport...but we couldn't get anything, because officially our approval is still "pending".

but hey...it's progress! :)

Eh. I would not have been satisfied. No stamp in passport means not done to me.

What do they want? For people to show up a second time so they can have another look at you?

I'm glad it made you feel better. If you're happy then I'm happy for you. But I wonder sometimes what is going on. Another member PM'd me last week (UK) and said he was told he was in name check. However the officer took his I-94. That made me think they knew something positive about his check but just wouldn't say. Sure enough within a few days he had the 'welcome letter' email in his box.

I hope Anthony has his soon I really do. But I would have been mad.

first of all, i have to say...WTH? "andser"? i *do* know how to spell "answer", folks...i really do. i guess that's what i get for typing when i'm tired.

secondly, i agree rebecca. i wanted the stamp in his passport. but of course, she said she couldn't give it to us yet. it's sooo frustrating. i'm hoping that maybe it'll arrive while we're out of the country, and then we won't have to think about this any more!

they took anthony's I-94 when we had our interview, too. I'm hoping it isn't going to be a problem when we go to leave next week.

our case has been touched a couple of times recently, but it seems like there's no rhyme or reason as to how long someone stays in name check.

First of all, CONGRATS Dani, hope the card will really arrive soon!

The officer took my I-94 during the interview, too, since, as she said "it is expired anyway". I didn't protest  but was asking myself what will happen if I travel, too. Fortunately the officer at the airport stamped my passport twice, once on the I-94 and once behind it, so one "admitted" stamp is still there.

She also told us that the Bloomington, MN office checks the pending name check cases once per week, to make sure not to delay them any further once the name checks clear. From what I heard, it's mostly the local offices that cause the delay, just stacking the pending cases... That would explain the miraculous clearances during infopass appointments!

Good luck to everybody else on this list here!

So Pittsburg directed me to Miami (I interviewed in Tampa). NO information was given as to the status of the check nor the email address I should use.

I have read on another site I frequent papertrails of attempts to reconcile this is important. Build up your file with correspondences every so often to *prove* your exhausting all resources. Its called exhaustion of administrative remedies (EAR). I suppose I will follow ever 90 days make an inquiry to those that we typically would contact.

Just a suggestion as we have seen some wait years. :help:
