i got the email today! had my interview january 2007, and a year and 2 months later the infamous email! applied for my AOS in november of 2006. was in the name check for a year and 2 months and pretty sure i'm getting this now because of the "180 days" rule, just hope and pray it's the 10 year GC. anyone know how long it takes to the get the card after the card production email is sent out?? also on a side note i got an email about my second EAD today too, the production of that card was ordered on the same day too, coincidence?! i think not, another way for USCIS to pocket some extra cash. so, all those waiting, believe! there is hope! this is the email i got:

Hi.

I just want to say thank you to everyone on this forum!

I wish I'd found you guys years ago. My husband and I have felt so alone. I've looked at other sites to find out who else was waiting in the name check hole and never found so many other people with such useful information. I knew there were others out there, but only seemed to meet folks who received their green cards at super speeds. I've gotten pressure from friends to "do more" but I don't think they get how there is so little you can do apart from infopass, phone calls, senator inquiries. But honestly, four years of infopass appts and letters and discussions with attorneys (who of course say there is nothing to do) is a lot! It's such a powerless feeling. It's amazing to know that we're not alone. I've felt so guilty for putting my husband through all of this. sigh... apparently I needed to express some deep frustrations. again thank you! It's amazing to feel that there are actually people who understand what this is like.

This is the gist of our story. We met in 2001 in Mexico and my husband (fiance at the time) came to California on a K-1 visa January 2004.

We submitted AOS in April 2004 and were interviewed in August 2004 (as goes the too well-known story, we were approved pending name check). That was in Chula Vista (San Diego, CA).

Our case is now at the Seattle office since our move summer 2007.

**It's amazing how different local offices can be. Chula Vista staff were polite but an infopass visit could take 3-4 hours. In Seattle, the staff are incredibly kind and we're in and out within an hour, sometimes less than 30 minutes. Of course, the result is always the same: name check pending.

My husband had his third biometrics renewal on March 3, 2008. I'm hopeful that we're headed down the same path as so many others in the forum. We also received a letter from our Senator on March 4th that said something different for the first time in 4 years. It said that the office was waiting for our fingerprint appt and would finish processing our application (summarized). I'm hopeful that means something great.

We just paid for his fourth EAD. We were putting AP on hold this time.

sigh... thank you all for sharing your stories.

It's amazing what that can do sometimes.

Heather

So, i got my approval notice yesterday. It's been over 3-years since we applied. The only problem is the wrong name is on the letter. It's not a typo; the name is completely different -- not even close. Also the letter information is different from what i've seen on recent approval notices. They say the card will arrive in 6 - 12 months and the classification is IF 1. The A number is correct, though. This is a bit of setback so i've made an info pass appointment for next Monday. A little bummed to say the least...

Hi everyone,

It's a wonderful form. I found it by searching for name check related sites. About this post by an NSC adjudicator,

How can ask him questions?

Best regards.

i got an email last week saying the production of my GC had been ordered and then that same day i changed my address online. then over the weekend i got an email saying they sent out a welcome letter (it was sent to my old address). i called uscis this morning and the address hadn't gone through yet. what are the chances that it goes through before my GC is mailed out? also, if i had my post office forward my mail to my new address, would they forward my GC too? i think i've heard some people who had issues/problems with that. and lastly, what does a welcome letter contain, do i really need it? i don't trust the people at my old address, hence the address change this late. does the GC envelope have anything on it saying return to sender or anything of that nature?

thank you.

Congrats!. You should get a 10 yr card by 2 days. The law states if you are married for 2 yrs before your case is approved you will recieve a 10 yr card. We were married for around 2.4 yrs before my wife was approved and she finally recieved a 10 yr card. But im not a lawyer either.....Congrats again

Congratulations on your card! I'm also waiting on FBI name check and had made an infopass appt last week to check my status & 2 days before the appt, got a letter asking for my fingerprints to be renewed. So, basically, we did both on the same day. No concrete news at the infopass appt, which was very brieffffff. She just said, basically, that its a good sign they asked u to come in for fingerprints, it means they have pulled your case and are at least looking at it. And she said, they might notify u to come in for another interview (my first was in Feb. 06). She said MOST, IF NOT ALL people will have to come interview again. So I'm wondering now how long I should expect to have to wait to hear anything else from them. Has anyone been told the same on their case recently & actually got any results or new interview??

Congratulations! Every couple who gets through means more happy people thinking happy thoughts and fewer people in the backlog.

We have an infopass appt on 3/27. My husband renewed his fingerprints on 3/3. Maybe we'll get some good news soon, too.

fingers crossed.

Ugh! EXACTLY what I didn't want to read, I read today when opening mail from USCIS. In response to my call on March 10th, they looked into our case. The letter recieved today states -

"The status of this service request is:

Based on your request we researched the status of this case. We are actively processing this case. However, we have to preform additional review on this case and this has caused a longer processing time. If you do not recieve a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please call customer service at the number provided below"

Ok first off, what the heck do they mean by performing addtional reviews?!?! We were clearly told by the woman giving the interview that as soon as the FBI name check cleared, she would approve us. Please tell me that's what they're getting at. I read on here someone recieved a letter stating they were waiting on their background check and since ours doesn't clearly state that as well...makes me a bit nervous. And as far as waiting 6 months...I think not! Today is day 133 since our interview. You bet ur a$$ that on day 180, if nothing has been heard otherwise, I will be contacting the, regarding the new "rule".

Question: Has anyone actually called the 800 number and asking about the new rule for pending name checks after 180 and gotten a decent reply?
