Given the new memo, perhaps it won't take all that long. At least you won't be in the seemingly endless quagmire that a lot of us were in. If it's official policy that the namecheck hold-ups will be processed after 180 days (at least in theory), you could request congressional assistance and perhaps get a better answer than "you just have to wait." We contacted our senator last year about our case. It took them five months to get back to us with his answer: "The FBI has a huge backlog, you could be waiting for years!" Uh, thanks. But I'd like to think that things are different now.

Keep us posted, I'm quite interested in how these cases will be handled.

Hello all, I am so so happy when I got 2 email from DHS.gov.

Receipt Number: MSC0xxxxxxxxx

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.

On February 26, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before you get your new card call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

We went in to the USCIS center yesterday, and the USCIS INFO Officer told us, there was a file movemnent on our case in the recent weeks. She said it is a good news, We still have to go home and wait within 120 days. This morning, we recieved 2 emails from DHS.gov. I just want to share our happy news with this group. It took us 2 visits to the USCIS center and 2 emails to our local Congressman. Can't wait to see the green card. ;)

immigrants won a major victory this month when a federal judge ruled it was unlawful for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to require FBI name checks before deciding a naturalization case. While the USCIS continues to fight the decision, lawyers for the plaintiffs (the permanent residents suing the government) are confident of victory. Let's hope they are right

i just hope they fix the system in 3 years so my husband dont have to wait another 3 years to naturalize. i would be pissed off if he gets hung up again.

Most of you people that have been in this thread for a long time know our story! My wife waits 2 yrs and 4 months for her background check to clear and USCIS send her a 2 yr card on Jan 7 08 a mistakeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Marriage was over 2 yrs when granted permanent resident so she should of recieved 10 yr CG.

So my wife sent her card back 3 weeks ago today and today she recieved a email from USCIS Feb 26 Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident. So i guess they found there mistake and going to approve her 10 yr card. We will see but it looks like she is going to get it. Im glad we got a response and didnt lose it i will keep you updated.
