congratulations lal...i think, i hope.

u know this new thing they are going to do i just going to cause a big mess i believe. what happens when the name checks still dont clear and ur able to apply for the citizenship? im sure there are people out there who have been in check longer then the 3 year waiting time.

lal, when did u apply for the ead? has he been fingerprinted for them yet?

His current EAD was approved Nov 7, 2007. I only mentioned that because the fingerprinting notice states it is for that file (case # and all). I don't doubt it is for the AOS as um, we are done with that EAD filing, and the code is 1.

also...we got a rfe for his ead the other day. i filed it too far in advance and they wanna know why...should i just ignore it since we have the green card now and wont need the ead or should i write to them telling them what happened? anyone know?

I guess you could send the paperwork back with a notice to disregard the application - specify you got the greencard now.

Ok we just received a fancy green paper NOA for fingerprinting. Here's the catch.

1 - it lists I765 in case type

2 - it lists the EAD application number

3 - is code 1

4 - his name is misspelled again

#1 - the EAD listed has been aproved since Nov 7th 207. Everything points to them selecting the wrong case number but trying to have it *for* the AOS (being code 1 n' all). The fact that they may have selected the wrong case to apply this to dosent suprise me, but they also used the name that we had corrected previously on this same EAD.

Oh well, we arent going to complain. would be nice for them to get something correct once in awhile. (however! they did get our change of address correct after I attacked it from land of overkill).

Geez, Laura, it's never straightforward for you guys, is it? All things considered, I think it's a good sign! I've forgotten now--is code 1 for the ten-prints? In any case, I can't imagine that this is a bad thing! Fingers crossed!

OH MY GOD!!!

My prayers have been answered, at least partially at this moment  I received ASC appointment notice today to come and redo my fingerprints next week! I still can't believe I got it, no news since 2006 and FINALLY!!! I've got this feeling that it must be my green card time soon  Maybe it's too early to get excited, but I can't help it :innocent: Good luck to everybody waiting, seems like our time is coming!

It sounds like nearly everyone in this thread has received good news in some form lately. (Woo hoo!) Nothing happened with our case for about 20 months (that is, since our interview in May 2006). Touches on the case averaged one every six months or so, probably the result of some paper shuffling somewhere. Then, out of nowhere, my husband got the fingerprinting letter. Coincidentally, and perhaps painfully, the letter arrived hours after I'd mailed off Jon's EAD #3 application. Oy! Which, as it turns out, he won't need!

I wonder if it has anything to do w/ the new name check rules. Even though we had movement on our case before the memo, perhaps new processes were already being put in motion.

Congrats to everyone!

Thanks a lot, AussieKat. It does sound optimistic, I hope it's gonna be a swift and easy approval for me too :innocent:

We too had our interview in May 2006, but the last touch dates back to July of the same year and then nothing! I honestly started to think that our case might have been lost or something (even made a infopass for the next week, oh well, seems like I won't need it now  ). I don't know if it's just a coincidence or a direct result of the new name check ruling (to tell you the truth I don't really care at this point), either way it's nice that something is happening at last. Congrats to everyone and best of luck to those who are yet to receive good news!!!

after 2 years our case was touched this month and a few times last month. I wish we'd get a fingerprinting letter or something. If they interview us, I will be DEEPLY annoyed.

sheeshh..EAD was touched too!

I'm hoping for the best...

I-485 , I-765, I-130: NOA1 : 1/23/2006

Biometrics 2/23/2006

Went back to renew EAD through Infopass: EAD card was not given "due to reasons we can't disclose"

5/30/2007: EAD production ordered (after over 400 days of waiting!!! woo hoo!)

AOS Interview: 5/12/2008!!! FINALLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have been 14 months since they were sent to the FBI and 11 months since his interview. There is nothing to do but wait believe me, even a senator cannot move them. Yes he is from a North African country but I saw someone else on this board with a long wait from Scotland, and someone else from Morocco who got theirs right away so it doesn't make much sense.

We went to our congresswoman's office yesterday to meet with the field rep handling all of the immigration issues. We have been waiting 1 year for our I-485 AOS to be approved. We were told that there are 450,000 I-485's pending and that last Friday an agreement was made with USCIS to issue green cards to all of those people by August even if the back ground checks were not complete and that they would then complete the background checks at a later time. Some of the cases date back to 2001. We were told they decided to do this because so many lives were being disrupted because people were waiting for their green cards. This sounds so stupid its probably true! maybe others could call their congress men and woman to see if they get the same story. She also said they will keep reissuing multiple I-765's if people reapply (even though they say they will do this only once on the web site) because they are so far behind. I was also told the dates on the USCIS web site for I-485's were "#######"
