A new entrant to the name check game here. Just had my interview today and the IO said my name check hasn't cleared yet. So here I am! Reading the posts here, I see that the veterans have been waiting months, even years. Hats off to you for your patience...

I second that. Some of the members on this particular forum have been waiting WAY too long for approvals.

Just out of curiousity, when you get a green card issued to you after waiting 2-3 years, what would be the issuance date on the card? Would it be back dated? If not, I guess the green card holder will have to wait another 3 years to be able to apply for naturalization. Thanks.

Sadly, the effective date on the card is when it is approved, not a date closer to the interview. It's one of the (many) unfair aspects of the name check delay. If an application is eventually approved, it should be backdated, I think. Many thousands of people--the FBI's own Web site says this--have been waiting longer than 36 months for AOS adjudication. Many could have been naturalization applicants by now, but instead they're renewing APs and EADs at their own expense.

We were just approved last week after a two-year wait. It really could have been worse!

May 5, 2006: Interview at Phoenix district office. Approval pending FBI background check clearance. AOS finally approved almost two years later: February 14, 2008.

i wish they would back date it. my husband would be filing for citizenship now instead of just starting his 3 year wait. i guess thats why they are coming up with the new law to approve them without fbi check being done.

Ok we just received a fancy green paper NOA for fingerprinting. Here's the catch.

1 - it lists I765 in case type

2 - it lists the EAD application number

3 - is code 1

4 - his name is misspelled again

#1 - the EAD listed has been aproved since Nov 7th 207. Everything points to them selecting the wrong case number but trying to have it *for* the AOS (being code 1 n' all). The fact that they may have selected the wrong case to apply this to dosent suprise me, but they also used the name that we had corrected previously on this same EAD.

Oh well, we arent going to complain. would be nice for them to get something correct once in awhile. (however! they did get our change of address correct after I attacked it from land of overkill).

Ya Lal you are on your way! give it a couple of months after the fingerprints and make sure they take all 10 fingerprints because in KC they tried to mess my wifes up and only give her one print. Then call the call the no help line to see if your background check has cleared

Should customers contact USCIS through the 1-800 customer service number or make an

INFOPASS appointment to visit their local office if they believe their application meets the criteria

of this new policy?

A9. We recommend that customers wait until mid-March before inquiring about cases affected by this

policy modification. This will allow each office sufficient time to identify and adjudicate the relevant

pending cases. If no action is taken by mid-March, we recommend inquiring with the USCIS customer

service line at 1-800-375-5283.

the above is for , those who are stuck in namecheck for more than 180 days...

congratulations lal...i think, i hope.

u know this new thing they are going to do i just going to cause a big mess i believe. what happens when the name checks still dont clear and ur able to apply for the citizenship? im sure there are people out there who have been in check longer then the 3 year waiting time.

lal, when did u apply for the ead? has he been fingerprinted for them yet? if he has this could be the big moment u have been waiting for. really i find it funny all of a sudden they are finishing up the old files all at once. that just tells me they have been sitting and no one has been doing a thing to them until they were pressured to do so.

i dont see why so many people have a hard time getting their info changed. this seams to happen all the time. why make people file out the address change if they will not change it. but then again i know at work when i put in a name change after i got married it took a long time for it to filter down to everyone. its almost like we dont have computers and everything is hand written like the old days.

now if they would just give us all back the time we spent waiting and let us at the head of the line for naturalization would be the only thing that would make me happy at this point. ill have that n-400 out ASAP!!! maybe we should put that idea into someone head now. anyone over the 180 day point gets their time back minus the 180 days. i think that would be fair enough.

also...we got a rfe for his ead the other day. i filed it too far in advance and they wanna know why...should i just ignore it since we have the green card now and wont need the ead or should i write to them telling them what happened? anyone know?
