I am married to a USC since August 2004. I had my AOS interview in January 2006 (filed I-485 in October 2004). I did not get my green card yet. Still waiting for the FBI name check.

I started losing my patience, especially last year when I had to renew my EAD for the third time and pay $340! I have called USCIS three times and after every call I receive a letter in the mail indicating that the processing of my case has been delayed until the background investigation is completed.

I wonder if I should call the USCIS again or hire an immigration attorney? I am afraid that my file is sitting on somebody's desk collecting dust.

there is no point in getting an attorney or even calling again. there is nothing they can do. we waited 3 years and now just approved. we called everyone and there is nothing anyone can do. our interview was also jan 2006 after waiting a year after filing and trust me i know ur pain. we also just sent the $340 in for the third renewal and guess what we got approved and that money is gone.

just hang in there. we all know it is very frustrating because most of us here went thru it and some still going thru it to this day.

Hi Engg, i am so sorry to hear about ur situation, but u have nothing to do if ur case still pending on FBI name check. and u have to remember u are not the only 1 who waiting for this. i was under this too but thanx god i got rid of it, Look at Donna's husband he just received his welcome letter, look when they filed! on Jan 2006! all that time spent on FBI name check! so u are not the only 1, therefore lets hope that u will hear something good about ur GC, very soon.

by the way to hire an attorney, he will do nothing for u .. because ur papers are not on the Immigration! got me? ur papers pending on the FBI! so i call it wasting money..

as i said lets hope. and dont stop calling USCIS. this will help. at least u will hear something.

Thanks Donna and Sand for your reply...

I know that there are a lot of people out there waiting for their GC. I cannot believe that it is taking over two years for the FBI name check.

I am not desperate to get it but it is just something to get out of the way and move on in my life. Also I do not want keep renewing my EAD forever!

Hi guys,

Do we receive a new status email when the card is mailed to us? I received "Card production email", then "welcome notice" two weeks ago. The status hasn't changed afterwards and I am wondering if I need to wait for "welcome permanent resident" email before I have the greencard in hand.

I would really appreciate an answer from those of you who recently got cleared and maybe received the greencard.

thanks

PS: CONGRATS DONNA!
