aos, ur in the same boat as us. husband goes for ead fingerprintiing on jan. 10 and green card reprinting jan 15. i hope they will let him do them at the same time. he is having a hard enough time getting off of work just for the first set...dont know if he can manage 2ce in the same month.

My husband went for his EAD renewal biometrics today and brought along his refingerprinting notice showing an appointment date of January 9. For once, common sense prevailed, and they took his fingerprints too! Yay! He said he was in and out quickly, and everyone was pleasant (Friday afternoon syndrome, I suspect). Donna, I hope your husband gets similar treatment! It would be crazy to make him return.

I'm sorry about that, tierdmonica.We also have been waiting for a long time.We filed for AOS in April 2005.Our case hasn't been touched since 06.03.2005.When it was the first fingerprint appointment.

I actually got the fingerprint notice about a year ago. had it redone then but no news after that!

Yeah, that's what I'm worried about. Initially we were excited to finally get the refingerprinting notice, because several people in the name check thread received their green cards within a few weeks of the notice. But a bunch of us have received notices within the last couple of months, and I'm not sure anyone in this latest batch has the card yet. Maybe it's just a change of policy or something. But yes, fingers crossed! I guess it's comforting to have some activity even if the name check still isn't completed.

Updating my wifes case. She has been waiting since Oct 2005! First fingerprints Jan 06, Interview April 06 since pending background check. Second fingerprints Nov 07. In Dec called uscis customer support again for about the fifth time and for once got a gentelman that kind of new what was going on and said he would put a another service request into my local office so i thought here we go again. Then in late Dec called Senators office and then my wife faxed privacy act wavier to him. Recieved letter from local uscis office the status is CURRENTLY YOUR CASE IS IN PROCESS WITH AN OFFICER. Wow i couldnt believe it didnt say your case is delay because of background checks. We are hoping but not getting our hopes up just yet

thats great news finally. that gives me hope on my husbands and all the ones scheduled for fingerprinting..husker maybe one more month then and julie a couple months for us!!!

there are some also in yahoo who ive read are getting fingerprints and something just pasted about this fbi check taking so long. im going to have to read up whats going on there.

I'm watching this too and wondering what's going on. I'm wondering if we can come up with a 'pattern' based upon a fairly simple question about the fingerprint notices being received by everyone.

My husband's fingerprint notice (that finally yielded the greencard last April) was NOT from Missouri. It was not on I797 paper. It was on plain white paper and was from our local office. Anything from a local office signals movement of the case WITHIN that office - meaning an AO is actively working the file. An AO is going to have to work your 'dead' namecheck file in order to get card production moving.

What kind of fingerprint notices did everyone receive and where did the notice come from?

I just finished reading much of this thread as possible. It would be impossible to read it all in one setting. I have to admit this thread is prettttty depressing. My wife has her AOS interview on 02/12/08 and everything has been going smooth since we filed the AOS in October. Now I am wandering if I will be postion to this thread after the interview.

Does most applicants have to wait for the FBI name check? Are there any that get done by the interview date, or is it just a small percentage of them?? Maybe in certain USCIS sites in certain states? Does anyone feel up to answering any of my questions?

Hi reach -

Here's what happens when you file for your adjustment. They order a fingerprint check and namecheck upon issuance of the NOA1. The fingerprint check usually comes back to them from the FBI almost immediately but the namecheck is a longer process.

Most people on Vj don't buy this next part - systems have improved within USCIS! Yes they actually have and what NOW happens is that interviews are occuring much sooner than they used to. Conversely, the namecheck processes being used by the FBI are still archaic and they cannot keep up with either USCIS demand nor the improving adjustment systems.

Sooooooooooo.....sometimes an interview is held before the namecheck is done. For about 90 percent of the people who get 'stuck', their case will be resolved in the next six months. Some take a while longer. A tiny percentage (1% - Lal will correct me if I'm not up to speed on my stats) take longer than a year.
