Hey All,

Just wanted to touch base here. We'll still waiting.... 40 months so far. All those waiting 2 years or less....please don't complain so much. I know its a pain and its tough. I wish we could do something to speed up everyones case

IMO anything over a year is reason to complain.

I would think under the guise of "national security" anything even nearing this amount of time would be unacceptable. We have people here that after a year, 2, 3 whatever that they are unsure if this is a true "match" to the name hit? Does that not raise some eyebrows in all this supposed heightened security?

I will certainly vent my frustrations for waiting 2 years not only because it is our case, but because it is decidedly nonsensical.

With that restriction, we'd barely have a thread! Imagine all the creative outpouring of despair--stifled.

I figured a reasonable rule was if you've had to renew interim benefits, you're alloted a major-league ketch and a couple of exclamation points. :-)

I'm having a sort of turnaround in terms of despair (which may very well prove to be temporary). I had a look through a couple of other threads recently and read about people whose K-1 and K-3 applications have been held up for a year or more because of processing nonsense. Imagine being separated from your fiance(e) or spouse for that long and having no recourse. Or waiting six months for an EAD and being told that it's pending further processing (!!) despite the usual 90-day rule. This AOS delay has been a real drag, but at least my husband and I are together, and he's working. It really could be worse.

K-1

March 7, 2005: I-129F NOA1

September 20, 2005: K-1 Interview in London. Visa received shortly thereafter.

AOS

December 30, 2005: I-485 received by USCIS

May 5, 2006: Interview at Phoenix district office. Approval pending FBI background check clearance. AOS finally approved almost two years later: February 14, 2008.

Received 10-year green card February 28, 2008

Too many of the people in this thread have been waiting FAR too long. I agree with AOS despair that if you've had to renew benefits, then you're allowed to complain!

We're one of those couples that waited over a year for an EAD and I shudder to think what is going to happen upon renewal. we also haven't had an AOS interview yet. go figure...

I-485 , I-765, I-130: NOA1 : 1/23/2006

Biometrics 2/23/2006

Temporary EAD given for 1 month ONLY b/c of Infopass appt: 5/1/2006

Went back to renew EAD through Infopass: EAD card was not given "due to reasons we can't disclose"

5/3/2007: Confirmation that EAD is delayed due to background checks. (started to use the senator, ombudsman and was just a royal pain in the neck)

5/30/2007: EAD production ordered (after over 400 days of waiting!!! woo hoo!)

AOS Interview: 5/12/2008!!! FINALLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7/29/2008: card production ordered...918 days..can't wait to see that card!

well pretty soon we will be filing for the EAD again. i think we are on the 4th time now. we are only on the second time for AP because he didnt go home for 2 years because he didnt have a job and didnt want to be a financial burden on me but now he is working he will travel more and need more AP unless they approve that green card. oh man...the fee increase....what a bummer and should be illegal to keep charging us. we have already spent over what a new petioner would have to pay. not fair at all.

Hi all! I've been reading this thread for a long time, hoping that my husband's AOS would be approved soon. In January it will be 2 years since we've applied. NOA for I-130, I-485 on 1/24/2006. Interview on 6/10/2006. We're going to apply for his 3rd EAD and AP soon.

I've received much comfort from reading this thread but as of today, I will be silent no more! This situation is ridiculous.

2 years and 13 days from NOA to card in hand!

Howdy! Welcome to our lair of despair. It looks like our timelines are quite close.

We're looking at EAD #3 pretty soon too. We don't have to worry about AP for a few more months because we applied for the renewals separately. Paying the new fees is really going to sting.

Bast*ards.

Hey all,

I saw Wolf Blitzer mentioning Yvette Clark's tabled motion in regards to clearing the security backlog.

750,000 people are on the no-fly list and also the fact that the Homeland Security is taking an awful long time to clear background checks was also mentioned in the Situation Room on CNN last evening.

I think everyone should bombard their elected representatives about their situation - being innocent and stuck in this ridiculous name check nonsense.

This has to stop!!

This is probably the best argument for speeding up the process. 'It takes a long time due to security' is such an awful reason. Suppose the spouse is a sekrit evil illegal terrorist donut-eater; this delay just means they have three years to construct the evil space laser donut machine.

Precisely why this issue is so much bigger that individual cases. Yup I said it. So much of this forum is clouded in "when will MY case be done" and other assorted complaints that we fail to apply some of these things to our real lives. In my *real* life, I would be a bit taken aback to learn these checks can take 2-3-4 whatever years under the guise of security - it makes little logical sense. I have just been desensitized by so many being stuck. Does not keep me from writing to elected officials about the situation , and I am not referring to status inquiries or asking for help in *my* case.

So sorry to see you all still waiting................... it's absolutely ridiculous.

If this happens to me, after already waiting so long for even an interview, I might have consider just going home because I can't travel due to my situation.

I really hope you all hear something soon.

Best wishes

Shona
