Another newbie question, now that we know what "touched" mean, do you actually get an email everytimes your file get touched or you find out by logging into the USCIS website???

Thanks

no you wont get an email every time. the only time ive gotton emails is when we got approved basically. like when we got his letter in the mail for biometrics the same letter would be posted on the website. then we would go get them and the next day or two the website would read...biometrics recieved and being processed. then in a few days u would see only the date changed but it would still read the same biometrics recieved and being processed. so u could tell they did something (touch) your file but really nothing changed at all. then a few months later we would get an email saying like...ur ead has been aproved and card is ordered and then the same letter would come in the mail.

I'll help. When ya wanna do it?

So far I have gotten up to post #300... I am writing down all the numbers of posts that will STAY - ie - informational posts, etc. I am trimming some of the "extra" member listings as well - at times there were 3 or so posted on on page, so I am cropping that back as well.

Just provide me with the post #'s that are to stay within the range you select - (ie ~ would you be willing to do posts 600-900?) A little helper that has been useful is I have turned off siggys so it makes it easier to zip through. Let me know what you think and I will continue on.

So....we are taking out what? Daily musings and grumbles, the "I finally got it"s and leaving what we've learned? Is that right?

I am taking out "bumps" and extra member listings only. I am leaving congrats, and other discussions as well as the more "procedural" or informational posts. Its not going to be a perfect science, and some may get missed, but I think the goal should be to reduce the overall size of the thread. Thoughts?

Thank you for the clarification, if you do not mind I have one more question

Is the status going to change since we technically got approved and waiting on the Name Check, as of today (on teh website), it still say : Case received and Pending.

Is that normal?

Thank you in advance!!

Yes that is normal. It is also normal to have ZERO updates on your case. Not everyone receives touches, or correct status listings online.

my last update was feb 14, 2005 and it hasnt changed since then on the aos since we are stuck. the last update said the fingerprint review was completed. they never updated it when we got the interview letter and that was in jan 2006.

Wow, donnal....that's great (although GC would be better, you're right!). That gives me hope for my AP...only applied because the officer at Infopass told me I'm stuck in background checks. I want to go away with my hubby @ end of August!! Maybe there's a chance...

Good luck to everyone in this thread...

My husband's AP renewal was approved in about a month, too. Only five weeks after we sent off the application, he had the document in hand, which was shocking. The original AP took longer, about 2 1/2 months if I remember correctly. I don't know if they're just processing them faster, or maybe a renewal is easier because the application is sent to the office that processed the first one rather than to Chicago.

Just to give a quick update...We went for Paul's 2nd biometrics appointment on Wed and after he got done with that I decided I wanted to know something about the FBI namecheck status, but we didnt have a infopass appointment...so I just took it upon myself to walk up to a random window and asked for help...i explained to them i realized i didnt have a infopass appointment BUT that we was already here doing the biometric for the 2nd time and that we had a AOS interview in Feb and are held up in FBI namecheck and asked them would they please look into our file to see what was going on....they then sent me to another window and gave me a number and was told to be seated LOL anyways they called us back to the original window i went to and they pulled up our case and said FBI namecheck still pending...which I already figured, but hey I thought while we was there we might as well try to find out something on the status!

My husband was embarrassed I just walked up to a random window when there was signs all over that said do not approach a window unless you called by number! hahahaha

..or maybe a renewal is easier because the application is sent to the office that processed the first one rather than to Chicago.

where does the form suggest to send it direct? i must be missing it.

Hi, Laura

I'm glad you asked! It looks like the I-131 instructions were changed yet again on July 30, 2007--to reveal new, even more confusing instructions! On the old form, it didn't say where to file renewals, and none of the information seemed to apply to our situation. So, I called the general customer service number. After going through an automated maze, the recorded guy said to mail it to the address on the expiring AP document. But I just looked at the new instructions, and the filing addresses section is different--but still no specific information regarding renewals. There is a new link featuring direct filing addresses: I-131 direct filing addresses. Oddly (or perhaps not), there is no mention of where to send an application for a spouse whose pending, non-concurrently filed I-485 is based on a K-1.

Good Lord.

u mean there is a new place now to send renewals? i still sent mine to the chicago place.

It looks like Chicago is now the correct location for family-based renewals. My husband's was sent to the famous Lee's Summit, MO, location, but that was a couple of months ago. I'm thinking that the APs can be processed at either location. We both must have done something right given that the APs were processed so quickly!
