We read today that the filing fees for the green card might go from $375 to $1000, but then there will be no further costs for the yearly renewall of temporary work permits. We have been stuck in name check now for 2 1/2 years. What isn't clear though is if we who allready payed our $375 years ago will have to continue paying the temporary work permit renewall fee. Does anybody know?

It's not a 'might' - the fees do increase beginning July 30. The new AOS package includes ongoing renewals of EAD and AP for no extra charges.

At this point, unless USCIS issues a policy change, those who filed prior to July 30, 2007 and wish to renew EAD or AP will have to pay the new fee.

Today I got the "card production" email....I hope it is not a mistaken email.

A little background...NOA1 11/15/06 - Interview 3/26/07 (they sent the request for the FBI namecheck that day because they forgot to send it before  )...Country: Canada/Argentina.

Hoping for other approvals before rates increase...

i really dislike the term "filer"... i never thought a word could irritate me so much :D

i see it everywhere around here... filer this, filer that, this filer waiting for this, that filer witing for that. compartmentalizing each and every aspect of the journey just makes me think - is the big picture sooo bad? LOL

/thoughts for the day although i may just bump becca's 2005 filer thread just for the heck of it.

I am filling out an I-131 application for advance parole so I can travel and return to the U.S.A. (My K-3 visa has expired and the Green card hasn't arrived yet) I need some help though on the form. In part 1 (Information about you), #3 where it says "Class of Admission", what are they asking for? I came here on a K-3 spousal visa; is that what I should write in this box?

In Part 3 (Processing information) #1 and #2 where it asks for Date of Intended Departure and Expected Length of Trip; is it OK to approximate these since I haven't made any definite travel plans yet?

After Part 3 it tells me to skip to Part 7, but Part 4 looks like it would be applicable since it asks the purpose of my trip and what countries I will be visiting. Should I fill this in or not?

Can somebody please help me with this? Thank you.

Hello Everyone...

CHECK ME OFF THE LIST yupiii

After 2 years 6 months and one fay form filing I-485 (yes January 12th 2005)

Saturday morning I have recieved 3 email.

1. Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.

2. Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Card production ordered.

On July 13, 2007, we ordered production of your new card.

3. Application Type: I130 , IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN

Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On July 13, 2007, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN.

Because I just filed a work permin renewal (4th one) I did not think anything about those.

I cried like a baby. All the build up frustration of years nobody helping me...

Ironicly about a week ago I have received letter from CSC where my file has been pending since November 2005 that my background checks have not been completed and therefore delay in the processing my application.

Also they have spelled my name wrong on this particular letter. Did they even look me up?

Anyway no complains now.

I only wonder. Is this card gonna be for 10 years? And is my name gonna be spelled correctly.

Keep you posted

:) LUC :)

My wife had her AOS interview March 8th and was told that she was successful, but final approval was pending for the FBI name check.

Are there others out there in the same position?

Do we have an average for how long they take to complete the task, or is it another one of those cases where we just have to sit and wait until it happens?

Thanks,

G

I wonder why it takes so long for some people. I mean, I really would like to know the hold-up. I had my check done on July 5th and they already had my results when I went for my interview on July 11th. So it only took 6 days. Maybe it helped because my case was expedited but I dont know.
