As you guys know, my namecheck cleared about 2 weeks ago, and i my fingerprints were taken last week for the second time (since old ones were expired), they processed and returned to USCIS within 24 hours according to the FBI. So, today I went for an infopass at the local office to find out what is happening and when the GC might be issued. The lady at the window said this " yes, we have everything now, but unfortunately we cant do anything because the officer who is supposed to review your case and make a decision is on a leave of absence and we dont know when he will be coming back" Of course you can all imagine my frustration at that point. So i really dont know what to do, I mean the name check is cleared and they have it, finger prints done and clear and they also have that, interview was conducted almost a year ago. What do you guys suggest?? any ideas??

Did you ask to speak to a supervisor to try to move the file to another officer? Another option is to have your Senator or Congressperson contact the office- usually if they give them a call, they tend to get crackin'!

Good luck.

oh my god...i just cant believe they actually wait on the officer to return to work before completeing the case. they should automatically transfer the case to someone else. that just makes me boil.

I can't believe they actually had the nerve to tell you that. You should go back and demand to see a superior. You've already waited long enough for your namecheck to be cleared. You shouldn't have to wait any longer just because of an incompetent and inconsiderate immigration officer. Sue their butts!

Hubby and I were stunned to read that the only reason the approval wasn't granted was because the officer is off and they don't know when they are coming back. I'd have blown a fuse, and that's saying something.

We truly hope you fight them on this, and drag in any official who would listen to make sure they do not get away with this.

I mean, seriously, the cheek of these people!!!

Everything was going well on my interview yesterday especially when he said "everything seems good, you are APPROVED" he waited like 10 long seconds ( like to see my reaction on my face and then he said BUT your name check is NOT complete I was like nooooooooooooooo ( of course on my mind) it's so bittersweet because it's approved but namecheck can take forever.... I know all I can do it's wait soooo crying.gif I hope this is not the beginning of name check limbo!! He also said that it was very common that the namecheck was not finished by the time of the interview, he said that he had 3 other cases that day (yesterday) that had the interview like me and were waiting on namecheck too. I guess now I belong to this goup

Hi, everyone

I'm finding myself seeking refuge in this particular thread. I've made a few postings here and there on the site but am drawn to this thread of commiseration. Actually, I like to think of it more as an exclusive kvetching club.

I suppose the worst aspect of the seemingly endless FBI name check delay is the feeling of utter helplessness. I'm sure I'm not the first person to bring this up, but it seems ironic that such a (supposedly) customer-oriented society firmly rooted in the "squeaky wheel gets the grease" mindset--all you have to do is ask!--has such an impenetrable immigration agency. My mother-in-law doesn't understand why we can't just march down to the local CIS office and demand to see the manager.

My husband and I have visited the local office more than once, and you're made to feel like a criminal the minute you try to set foot through the door. After waiting for a while with lots of anxious-looking people, you get your few minutes at a window talking to a surly functionary who is invariably unhelpful.

Help me regain my faith in humanity! Dealing with U.S. immigration certainly is not doing it!

Thank you for listening to my rant. And may all our background checks clear promptly!

Julie

Well, I'm just in a ranting mood today, seeing so many interviews approved with a stamp. I'm frustrated that it seems there's a disproportionate amount of people on this list from the UK and it seems no one from the UK gets approved at the interview, we all get stuck in FBI checks  Enough from me about that and I do realize that we haven't waited that long yet. Just irritated that there's a good job my husband would love but doesn't have legal residency yet to qualify for it.

Howsit Saffa!

As far as I know and what would make more sense is they would check on your maiden name..

Good luck with the check, my last name is Mann which is not common in SA but it takes even longer being from SA unfortunately due to the SAP!!

Ive gone through the DORA (Dallas office Rapid Adjustment) program where they tell you they will complete your case within 90 days.. well thats rubbish, ive just been sent a letter stating that I must apply for EAD now!! aahh this process is a killer!

Good luck!
