Hi all,

Do you think that a person with a 'unique' name will more likely get a faster name check processing?

Whose name gets check? Is it just the person being petitioned or also the USC?

What about minors? Do they process their names too?

Thanks!!

I am curious that if your interview is before your backround check completed, then they said you are approved and but can't issue card before backround check complete...what date will be there on your card the approval date of your interview or the approval date after namecheck completed. any one have ideas

I've wondered that as well.

It's a pain waiting on this card. It's holding up lots of stuff for us. If we need to sell our home and purchase another, we have the choice of only ONE lender in town who will work with us. The green card would open up more possibilities.

I nearly busted out laughing today when one lender asked me "do you have any proof in writing that his card is approved but all they are waiting for is the name check". John Q. Public is so blissfully ignorant of immigration procedures - no wonder the media is able to control the EWI issue so seamlessly.

We have been in the same boat, waiting for the background check since our interview was in October of 2005.

I read somewhere that our fingerprints will expire in 15 months and will have to redo if the green card is not issued by then :help::help::help:

Contacted Congressman and Senator and nothing else was told to us that we didnt already know....its holding up our lives as well!!!

Almost forgot....the date starts once the official welcome letter is received and you are officially approved then...

My son and I had our AOS on May 17th in Atlanta.

We were both approved, but my son's name check wasnt back yet.

So I have the stamp in my passport and he doesnt.

I just received my email Friday, saying that my AOS was approved, and my welcome to America letter is on the way.

I just wish that my son's name check was done. :(

we are still waiting also. been almost 6 months from the interview. his fingerprints have expired and we havent got anything telling us to go get new ones yet. im hoping (fingers crossed) that the aproval is soon thats why they havent requested new fingerprints....ooopppsss wake me up, im dreaming again.

my friends husband had his interview a month before ours and they just got his card. their interview was in december and the green card was dated april. so that might answer your question about when its dated. i guess when the fingerprints clear or name check...whatever is when they date the green card for.

How abut something like this: (added biometrics date since someone mentioned if interview occurs soon after bio, this could cause some issues, but I am not seeing a correlation)

I did try to add everyone on this thread, but alas, several do not have your timelines posted. Also - please add yourselves to this list as needed or make updates/corrections. I don't want to be the list keeper, just thought I would get it started!

We had our AOS interview in September 2005 and we were waiting on the FBI background name check. On March 6, 2006 we were approved, received approval letter from the Tampa office on March 8, 2006, got the I-551 stamp about a week later. As of today we still have not received the greencard. We've contacted our Senator's office for help.

I believe the greencard date is your approval date, our approval letter had a date of March 6, 2006 and told us to apply to remove conditions on December 7, 2007 (my mom's birthday, that's got to be a good sign).

Note about fingerprints expiring. My husband's fingerprints expired in January, we sent a letter to the Tampa office asking if they needed to be done again and they sent us a fingerprint appointment notice. He had those done in February, and then the approval came in March.

Everyday I wish and hope it will be the day the greencard is received. One day this worry will be over, hopefully that day comes soon.

Best of luck to all!
