If anyone could invest $500 in American economy just to get their visa, we would have millions of people here with $500 that will last a few days. Don't you seriously think that you can invest less than a ticket price to be here? Sometimes I don't understand how people think. At all.

The OP misunderstood the price due to a missing 0 in the post they were referring to.  Innocent mistake that the OP has since clarified.

I assume he will have a bit of a wait until his eldest is 21 and then they have to want to sponsor.

And presumably he needs to work so long holidays may not be practical.

1) Springrain-  I missed a "0" on the post reply as I was looking at them on my phone!!  Hence confirming as $500 is to easy for everyone to get into the investment and move to the US... Appreciate your lack of support and unkindness on a post!!  If you have nothing nice to say please don't reply to my posts. You are rude!! God help anyone who asks a question or misreads anything on this site for advise. You certainly have made me feel so welcome as a newbie.

2) To the person thats comment was removed, I didn't even see what you posted. :(

3) I also know the 90 day visa waiver, that is what I always travel on to see family,  and yes, even with the divorce we travel together to see his family. I was looking to see if there was permanent options to stay/move there. We normally spend 6 weeks every 2nd year visiting and have done since my daughter was 9 months old, she is now 16.5yrs old.

4) my eldest is 21yrs old in 4yrs time, so not that far off and gives me 4yrs to plan and get more financially set up.

5)Until then I guess I'll just have a go at the Green Card Lottery.. can I ask why it is low probability an Australian gets selected? Or did I misread that as we'll..

Due to the way the lottery works I believe Australians are a bit better than most.

Lot better than my chances were which was zero.

Actually as an Australian the probability is a bit higher than other regions but it’s still a lottery with a tiny probability of being selected. Last year 14.9m people entered (23.8m taking derivatives into account) entered for 50k visas. It’s simple math. Sure, enter when (if) the next entry period opens, but it’s hardly a “plan”.  If you have decent work skills your best bet in the shorter term is to get a job there and be sponsored for some type of work visa.
