My green card application has been approved ( Family sponsored F4 category ) but my date is not yet current ( 2 months behind ). I applied to US universities for MS in CS and got acceptance from a few. My session starts Sept 2018.

Can i apply for a F1/student visa if i feel my green card application date is not going to get current by the time my session starts ?

If not, is waiting for my date to get current and then giving the interview, the only option I am left with ?

Or is there another way I can enter USA as a student to start my Fall2018 semester with a pending green card application ?

Lastly, is there a way to expedite the process of date getting current and giving the interview, if i have acceptance letters from US universities and considering that my course will begin shortly ?

You can apply for a F1.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

You will probably have a problem getting an F-1 visa with an approved i-130 but you can always apply.  You will have to convince the consular officer that only coming for school this time and that when you priority date become current you will return to home country for consular processing.
