Everyone,

In the ongoing saga of trying to get my case transferred from Costa Rica to Nicaragua, I received an email that I do not fully understand. It originated from support@ustraveldocs.com

Here is the important bits from the email:

Your case has been updated, please log back into your account to view the details.

Origin:   Email
Case Reason:   Need to transfer a K1 visa - case number SNJxxxxxxx
Public Response:   Dear Mrs. xxxxx,

Thank you for writing to the U.S. Visa Service Desk.

We understand that you would like to transfer the case from Costa Rica to Nicaragua.

In response to your question, please note that the consular section has contacted the applicant directly by email on Case-2018- 04-17-xxxxx, 4/19/2018 1:49 PM.

If you have some doubts, we ask you to please forward us the email address to clarify the procedure.

Please visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/gss_nicaragua to share feedback on the services we provide.

Sincerely,
U.S. Visa Service Desk.

1. What account? The email doesn't give any information about how to view the account online. I checked the status using my case number on the NVC's website and it doesn't appear to have changed, but is says the status is "Ready". Is there some other website or account I should know about?

2. It says that the applicant has been contacted directly by email on 4/19/2018 1:49PM. Neither I nor my fiancée have received any emails other than this one from Nicaragua. Any thoughts?

I am delighted that I received some type of a response, but I have nothing that gives me any indication that the case is being transferred. How can I tell if something has actually happened?

Regards,

Steve

If she has ever applied for a US visa before (or already did for the K-1), then she should have a http://www.ustraveldocs.com account associated with her passport number. The login button should go to something along the lines of https://cgifederal.secure.force.com.

That email address would be the first place I would check if you checked all other addresses you know of. She may also be able to login to that account and see the message (I think it's under "Provide Feedback").

Any updates on  your case?  I'm also in the same position as you. I just recently email the support docs email. And email the embassy 2 days ago but still no reply from their end. I'm hoping this will be resolve quickly.

No updates on my case. I have not received any additional emails. My fiancé hasn't filed the DS-160 yet, so we don't have an account to check the status.

There is a new problem in Nicaragua, massive demonstrations and riots have broken out all over the country. Numerous people have been killed. The embassy has been shut down for a week, so more delays for us.

Fortunately el presidente Ortega reversed the unpopular social security reforms that sparked the violence. Things seem to be calming down again. Hopefully they will proceed with my case.

What happens if civil war breaks out and the embassy is closed?

Regards,

Steve

If the embassy no longer accepts applicants, cases will be handled by a nearby / the closest few embassies in the region.

I actually got a response back from support usa docs email and they just told me that since it's an immigrant matter to email the embassy and my case has been close with them. I guess all i can do now is wait for a response from the embassy. Also, do we only do the ds-160 form? Because i keep reading that we have to do for ds-260 as well?

K-1 applicants always use the DS-160. The DS-260 is only for immigrant visas.

A K-1 is a little unique in that it is a non-immigrant visa but is handled by the immigrant visa unit at the embassy.

So my case was updated last friday on https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ and also i receieved email from the bangkok embassy since laos embassy told me to contact them. they said they are going to transfer it and once it's in laos i'll be getting an email from them. So my question is. Right now on my case number there is three letters more after the normal case number VNT with a 01. So i was wondering if that is normal? Also, they haven't told me how long this process will take, so should i email them asking how long it will take? Thanks again!
