Yep you get the lovely pleasure of not waiting for one nations passport to come in, but 2 now. You would just need to use your US passport when comming back to the US, but you could use either to get into any other country as you wish. I honestly don't care about the Canadian one now that I'm a US citizen, but my parents suggested it's always good to get both passports.

In addition to this - carrying two passports can sometimes cause more trouble than benefit. My son is dual and we applied for his US passport - I am not going to bother with his Canadian passport and he can just carry his Canadian birth certificate with his US passport. Canada doesn't require you to have a Canadian passport to prove your Canadian and your birth certificate is suffice. Save yourself the money and the headache of re-applying every 5 years for the Canadian one.

That's what I figured and couldn't see the reason to get the Canadian one every 5 years. I guess in some nations in the world it may be easier to get in using a Canadian one over a US one. I know some countries did have visa requirements for US tourists but not Canadian and visa versa. Well anyways my Canadian one will probably expire before I even get it judging how incredibly slow they are.

I know I wouldn't want to carry both passports at all, and I'll just leave the Canadian one in safe place and then probably not get it renewed in 5 years...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

"YES, u can remain a canadian citizen, thus you will have dual citizenship. yees during the USA citizen ceremony you wil ldenounce your "other" citizenships, BUT Canada does not recognize it, thus you wil have dual! I do belive USA only sees you as an American citizen though. Short answer is YES!!! "
