The Democratic National Committee filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit Friday against the Russian government, the Trump campaign and the WikiLeaks organization alleging a far-reaching conspiracy to disrupt the 2016 campaign and tilt the election to Donald Trump.

The complaint, filed in federal district court in Manhattan, alleges that top Trump campaign officials conspired with the Russian government and its military spy agency to hurt Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and help Trump by hacking the computer networks of the Democratic Party and disseminating stolen material found there.

“During the 2016 presidential campaign, Russia launched an all-out assault on our democracy, and it found a willing and active partner in Donald Trump’s campaign,” DNC Chairman Tom Perez said in a statement.

“This constituted an act of unprecedented treachery: the campaign of a nominee for President of the United States in league with a hostile foreign power to bolster its own chance to win the presidency,” he said.

This very issue is being investigated by Mueller, I don't see why people can't just wait until that investigation is concluded.

Patience is a virtue.

I am fairly sure they know this will not move forward now and that they will never get Julian Assange and Russian Generals deposed.  It is an interesting bit of PR to keep the perception that these parties are linked and part of a combined narrative.

Ya I guess. It also makes them look desperate.

Doubtful this will be successful on merit. Mueller will take care of the rest of it, so they should ideally wait. But this is political optics, you know...

We have been waiting for something for a year now and just **CRICKETS**. I doubt it will ever pan out and the DNC is just using this method for a last ditch effort to smear our President.

So basically they are filing for damages over money they would have received from kickbacks if Clinton was elected right?

So the leak that brought to light that they were screwing Bernie over and rigging the Primary election for Hillary hurt their donations??????? Well duh because people saw what the DNC actually is and not what it was saying they were. Also Donna Brazille admitted that the Clinton campaign practically bankrupted the DNC as a whole. So it's no wonder that people that loved Bernie never gave anymore to the DNC because they ran him out of town.

“The [Clinton] campaign had the DNC on life support, giving it money every month to meet its basic expenses, while the campaign was using the party as a fund-raising clearinghouse,” Brazile continued in the book. “The funding arrangement … was not illegal, but it sure looked unethical.”“If the fight had been fair, one campaign would not have control of the party before the voters had decided which one they wanted to lead. This was not a criminal act, but as I saw it, it compromised the party’s integrity.”

The Saturday morning after the convention in July, I called Gary Gensler, the chief financial officer of Hillary’s campaign. He wasted no words. He told me the Democratic Party was broke and $2 million in debt.

Individuals who had maxed out their $2,700 contribution limit to the campaign could write an additional check for $353,400 to the Hillary Victory Fund—that figure represented $10,000 to each of the 32 states’ parties who were part of the Victory Fund agreement—$320,000—and $33,400 to the DNC. The money would be deposited in the states first, and transferred to the DNC shortly after that. Money in the battleground states usually stayed in that state, but all the other states funneled that money directly to the DNC, which quickly transferred the money to Brooklyn.“Wait,” I said. “That victory fund was supposed to be for whoever was the nominee, and the state party races. You’re telling me that Hillary has been controlling it since before she got the nomination?”

The agreement—signed by Amy Dacey, the former CEO of the DNC, and Robby Mook with a copy to Marc Elias—specified that in exchange for raising money and investing in the DNC, Hillary would control the party’s finances, strategy, and all the money raised. Her campaign had the right of refusal of who would be the party communications director, and it would make final decisions on all the other staff. The DNC also was required to consult with the campaign about all other staffing, budgeting, data, analytics, and mailings. I discussed the fundraising agreement that each of the candidates had signed. Bernie was familiar with it, but he and his staff ignored it. They had their own way of raising money through small donations. I described how Hillary’s campaign had taken it another step. I told Bernie I had found Hillary’s Joint Fundraising Agreement. I explained that the cancer was that she had exerted this control of the party long before she became its nominee. Had I known this, I never would have accepted the interim chair position, but here we were with only weeks before the election.

Well there have been individual charges of conspiracy as a result of the investigation.

Absence of evidence (public knowledge) does not mean there is evidence of absence (investigation is still ongoing and, for the most part, confidential).

An ongoing investigation that is fairly confidential about it's ongoings until charges are brought and announced or not brought and announced? Sounds like a pretty normal way to operate an investigation. Just because some people aren't hearing what the results may or may not be fast enough for them doesn't mean much of anything. Remind yourself just how long other similar but slightly less complicated investigations lasted. But there are a whole boatload of indictments yet to be unsealed... It will finish, when he's finished. DNC or RNC moaning won't help either cause.

I am not saying the investigation is not progressing because just like you said that is how things are in general. But do you remember 18 months ago when people on this very site were saying that it is evident that there is collusion and a indictment should come down anyday now?

Well that's excited projection you know? I personally believe there's evidence of lots of things, but it has to be well-gathered and proven. What those things are and how they will be classified will be up to the investigators to determine. Something being 'evident' (either guilt or innocence) to us outside observers does not make able to be proven or disproven in a court of law without going through the process. You think there is no 'there, there', I think there's a lot of all sorts of 'there'.

It only makes me more frustrated at the system at large that produced the predicament we're currently in. I'm looking ahead to elections of the future to see if there's going to be any standout person on either side. I'm not seeing any options (are you?), because everyone is too busy being stupid. The parties are tired, old, clueless, and floundering. Haley might run I suppose to make things interesting.

Honestly I am looking forward to everything about this supposed collusion going away some time in all honesty.

I think a large part of both parties are being stupid and not giving the constituents what we need which is leadership. The Congressional leaders are all stuck in their ways and not willing branch out to see further opinions at all, and that is why they are floundering. I have spent the last 3+ hours online listening/watching a lot of the challengers for Congressional elections this year and I am excited to say the least. The last several months I have been reevaluating my positions on things which I believe everyone needs to do from time to time. But I am finding out that even though I am really Conservative on some things I am very much in the middle or Libertarian in some other aspects. So I am looking at the 2020 election right now and hopefully running as a MDR Republican or a Blue Dawg Democrat.

I do like Haley BTW and I have always liked her as a politician. She is someone that I think would be a great VP or Presidential pick.
