Everyone,

I started a new topic, since the blocking issue with my case has become that the embassy in Nicaragua is unreachable. My case was sent to the wrong country, so I must contact the embassy in Nicaragua to initiate a transfer. We need to have the interview at the embassy in Nicaragua.

Unfortunately, the embassy won't respond to any emails or phone calls. Both myself and my fiancee have sent requests to two email addresses listed for the embassy. They are the same addresses listed on the embassy website and from the VisaJourney information. No response. I have called several different phone numbers listed for the embassy. I was able to reach a human with two of these numbers, but they wouldn't speak to me or even listen to me. They just hung up on me.

I talked to a human on the phone at a US number, it was someone who schedules the interviews at the embassy. He took all of my information, and said he would send me instructions by email within 2-3 days on how to proceed. No email was ever received.

I have invested 2-1/2 years with my fiancee, plus 2 years of searching to find her initially, and many thousands of dollars to visit her in person on 6 different occasions. I waited 7 months for the petition to get approved. But now I appear to be hopelessly blocked because the NVC sent the petition to the wrong country and the required embassy won't help or respond. I am afraid that I will be forced to give up since the visa can't be completed without the cooperation of the Nicaraguan embassy.

I looked through the Nicaraguan visa timelines on this website, and see that there have not been any K1 interviews at that embassy this year, and only one K1 interview there in 2017. So not much history to go by.

Does anyone have any ideas for what I should do? I don't relish the thought of having to start the whole process over again, as it required over 4 years to get to this point.

Regards,

Steve

No, a person must have legal residency in a country in order to have a K1 interview in that country. She could travel to an entirely different foreign country, but would only have a travel visa stamp which would not qualify her for an interview.

She could potentially obtain legal residency in a different foreign country, but not in any time frame that would be helpful for the current situation. That could take years, if it were even possible. My petition will expire June 13 of this year.

Yes. We emailed the embassy in Costa Rica where the paperwork was sent. They replied immediately, and told us that the only course of action is to ask the embassy in Nicaragua to initiate a transfer.

And yes, I tried the phone numbers and email address you just sent, plus several additional ones. I also tried the online help chat from the Nicaraguan embassy website. It said that a representative would be with me momentarily. I waited online for over 5 hours, and never received any communication.

Steve

Here are the numbers and email addresses I have tried without success:

7877 7600

2252 7100

2252 7888

I tried these numbers, and whenever I managed to reach a human they would just hang up on me.

703 745 5479

This number is US based, and after navigating an extensive phone menu I was able to speak to a human. He took all of my information and created a profile, but could do nothing but promise to email me instructions within 2-3 days. No email received.

ManaguaConsularIV@state.gov

This email address is listed many places, and was also recommended to me by the woman at the NVC. I sent an email will all of the relevant information to this address. I received an immediate automated response, stating that this inbox was only used for cases that are currently under processing in the consular section. My petition is sitting in an embassy of an entirely different country, so it is impossible for my case to be in processing in the consular section of the Nicaraguan embassy.

support-nicaragua@ustraveldocs.com

I receive no response of any kind from this address.

Their online help chat is a fraud, its status changes online or available (during business hours) and teases you by saying that a representative will be with you momentarily if you initiate a session. But no one ever responds, even after 5 hours of continuous waiting.

I see that there website also has a Skype help chat service. I will try that today once the embassy opens. I also found a fax number, and fortunately I own a fax machine. I will also try that method today.

Anyone have any other suggestions? I am completely out of ideas at this point.

Regards,

Steve

There's some really bad protests in which the gov't paid police and the Sandinista youth group are beating people up in "counter protests" happening in Managua right now and the embassy closed it's doors yesterday. Really awful stuff. That may have something to do with the lack of communication. Not sure if they have opened the doors up today or not. Perhaps she can go to Guatemala or El Sal embassies. They are part of the CR-4 agreement and she would only need her cedula and not residency to go there.

Worth looking into perhaps.

I have been told by various sources that a person must have legal residency in a country to qualify to have a K1 interview in that country. I was told that having a tourist visa does not count. If there is something special about El Salvador or Guatemala that waives this requirement, or grants immediate legal residency for Nicaraguans, then it would be worth trying.

However, I wouldn't risk sending her there unless I was 100% certain that she could have the interview there. El Salvador and Guatemala are both very dangerous countries, especially for women.

Thanks for the idea, I will look into it.

Steve

After sending numerous emails, I might have finally got one to stick. I received an automated reply from one of the emails I just sent today. Presumably from the Nicaraguan embassy. It only says that they received my email, and will respond accordingly within 2 business days. And there is a case number, and a status of "case opened".

Small victory, but at least it is something. Now I just need to wait a few days, and hope that something actually happens.

Thanks everyone!
