Automatic definitely.

I did learn to drive stick on my dad's pickup truck with no power steering, after stalling at the stop sign 5 times i finally shut it off and got out and told him to drive  lol

Gary has a bad habit of not putting the car in park and then tries to get the keys out.

Hi I thought this would be interesting, I was always used to using a stick until I lived in the USA, my husband has an Automatic. One day I went to work and parked in a parking space, I could not get the keys out of the car ignition, I started to panic, I sat there nearly in tears wondering if I should phone the AAA for assistance, well this fella parked next to me and I plucked up the courage to ask him if he know anything about cars, he looked in the car and said " mam it helps if you put the thing in park" I could of died, right there and then I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me, so I much prefer to use a stick.

Thats a funny story, but don't feel bad. A lady called 911 because she locked herself in her car!

The car chase is so funny!! Reminds me of ants running around in circles..

I do a lot of city driving so I prefer the automatic but I did learn to drive a stick. All of our cars right now are automatic though so I don't know if I still know how to drive a stick.

Tried doing a poll on this and nothing came up???? :help:

I think the pole function doesn't work with some computers. I tried to do a pole on my computer at work and the same thing happened to me; the pole questions and answers didn't come up. I did a pole at home on my PC and it worked fine.

By the way......Automatic. No more manual.

I learned to drive on a stick (yep, I'm American...believe it) and I don't like automatics. I'm always slamming on the brakes looking for the clutch when the engine revs get to a certain pitch.

Automatic.

Never learned stick, but it's on my list of things to do. I'm definitely a stick kind of gal. Or maybe not, it makes it harder to smoke...

ROFL, no it doesn't.

The first car I drove at 16 was a five speed. Then I have driven an automatic ever since.

This summer, my sister is supposed to reteach me how to drive a five speed. My husband shudders at the thought of having to drive an automatic, so I'll suck it up. Besides, manuals get better gas mileage, etc.

Only if you know how to drive a stick properly. If you don't, they get worse mileage as my novice driver husband found out.

Automatic. It's the American thing to do :P

I plan to learn stick someday. My grandpa tried to teach me on a stick, saying if I didn't learn on a stick then I'd never learn stick at all, but his car was so nice he almost burst into tears every time I made it do that grindy thing (what's that called again?) and eventually gave up. Sigh...

I think it's better to get someone you're not related to to teach you stick. I taught friends to drive on sticks after their parents had given up on them. It's easier when you don't love the person. They don't get so hurt when you yell at them.

I needed therapy after my dad taught me to drive a stick. :crying:

I always referred to the 'grindy thing' as stripping the gears. Once or twice won't kill the car, but doing it over and over will...y'know...strip the gears. It's worth learning to drive a stick, cos then you can drive any car. It's great if you're in law enforcement and have to commandeer a private vehicle, or if you happen to join a car theft ring someday. :luv: Or if you need to drive a drunk friend home in their car.
