On-line Interview Scheduling

I am so confused about the scheduling process in Montreal for the K-1 interview. Supposedly they send you a letter 2 to 4 weeks before your interview with the date. Frankly that is stupid and doesn't allow much time for planning travel especially when one of us needs to come up from the states. If you go to their web site it has a link where you can schedule an appointment. Is this the same thing as the K-1 interview? Is there a way other than calling them repeatedly to find out when and if you have an interview date scheduled? Thanks.

Once you send in your package 3, the waiting game begins. You can try calling the consulate or emailing them every so often to see your "status", but you're right, you will be notified a whole whopping 2-3 weeks before you appointment date by letter in the mail. i just went thru it ... it's no fun .. ...

As for the "online appointment" booking thing ... its must be for something else ... another VJ'er may be able to shed some light on that one.

Those are probably only for things that are pretty cut and dry like TNs or J-1s or something.

Even though K visas are technically "non-immigrant", they are treated much differently since the intent after entry (or at least it should be!) is to adjust status.

With the CR-1 - I have yet to get the medical. They expect that you get the medical done between receiving the interview letter and the actually interview. So I may have 2-3 weeks to make travel plans plus make a appointment to get the medical done.

Same for all U.S. consulates around the world. You can't schedule your own interview date with them.

The USa citizen DOES NOT have to attend the interview. many on here (including myself) went alone. Not a big deal. In some countries yes it is very beneficial, but not in Canada, thus its a personal decision. Best of luck

They probably use it for things like work, school and visitor visas.

Last week coming back from the dog park, the radio had on some head honcho dude from USCIS and they were talking about Immigration. In the future (didnt say how long into future) they would like to make it an almost paperless transaction! One could email stuff in and get the required stuff emailed back to you. As well they talked about how certain visas people had to do biometrics a few times, and they wanted it done to one for everyone. Was interesting to listen to.

Seriously though, they only just came out with change of address online last year! A friend of mine works for DHS as a programmer and she has commented on how antiquated they are as far as technologies. She works on some of the NEXUS stuff.

The dude was saying they have like $100 million approved for stuff, BUT "stuff" had to be approved by Congress,lol
