Seems synonymous, but I understand your reluctance to admit you agree with one of Trump's positions.

:jest:

Except Trump's actual position is "replace the swamp with my own swamp"

Not meant to be political, but this is a common occurrence in human nature. If it's on someone else dime why not.

When it is on the taxpayers dime absolutely.

I don't have a problem with people over spending on their company's dime though. My wife's friends frequently pay more than their share of dinner etc... when they are on a business trip where they can expense everything. They are in Oil and Gas. I don't mind.

Don't sound convinced.  Then again...

I am convinced, history will show that Trump's is the most unethical and corrupt White House since Nixon. Folks can hide behind meaningless metaphors if they want, it is their actions that need to be measured.

Pretty typical of these types.  What else is new.

I actually do have a problem with people overspending with other people's money whether it is Washington or a private company since it is a symptom of our culture becoming less responsible.  Washington will be a hard swamp to drain since it is so ingrained and the bureaucracy is just so big, but hopefully we can get some of these departments to become skinny.

Most companies have travel policies that clearly states what is reimbursable or not. They also work with travel agencies like concur or egencia that implement these rules in their search function. For instance if there is an available flight for $300 but the traveler wants the buy the $600 option b/c it is non-stop or more convenient hours, then his/her manager may need to approve the request. Same things apply for hotels, rental cars, dinners and such. But unlike gov't which usually does not allow business/first class travel, companies don't care if it is going to bring them the $$$. If a VP of sales needs to travel 10+ hours to negotiate a $10M deal, company wouldn't care if he/she decides to take the $10K first class ticket.

Particularly with the elitist leadership class.  They can be quite careless with other peoples money hence the need to reign in the government and taxes.

It's funny how ever since the fiscal conservative became a thing, government debt seems to have exploded.

“There are four ways in which you can spend money.  You can spend your own money on yourself.  When you do that, why then you really watch out what you’re doing, and you try to get the most for your money.  Then you can spend your own money on somebody else.  For example, I buy a birthday present for someone.  Well, then I’m not so careful about the content of the present, but I’m very careful about the cost.  Then, I can spend somebody else’s money on myself.  And if I spend somebody else’s money on myself, then I’m sure going to have a good lunch!  Finally, I can spend somebody else’s money on somebody else.  And if I spend somebody else’s money on somebody else, I’m not concerned about how much it is, and I’m not concerned about what I get.  And that’s government.  And that’s close to 40% of our national income.”
