North and South Korea reportedly set to announce official end to war

Never thought I’d see this in my lifetime.  Here’s hoping they move forward swiftly and reunite their country!

 

“North and South Korea are in talks to announce a permanent end to the officially declared military conflict between the two countries, daily newspaper Munhwa Ilbo reported Tuesday, citing an unnamed South Korean official.

 

Ahead of a summit next week between North Korean premier Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, lawmakers from the neighboring states were thought to be negotiating the details of a joint statement that could outline an end to the confrontation.

 

Kim and Moon could also discuss returning the heavily fortified demilitarized zone separating them to its original state, the newspaper said.”

Thank you Trump. All it took was someone not appeasing that laughable little dictator.

 

I remember all the protests from the deranged MDL. Trump will start ww3 with N Korea. It must suck to always be wrong.

It's great news but I don't think this is the path to reunification. I think it is a path to permanent acceptance of two neighboring ethnically similar countries. I'm not sure how the two governments could agree to a "peaceful unification" process.

 

It's still great news though.

What exactly did Trump do to broker this agreement? Seems like this was a discussion between N and S Korea. Was he hiding in the room somewhere? I realize he is planning to meet with Kim but that hasn't happened yet.

I actually wonder if Trump will be upset that they are announcing this now instead of after he meets with him because it hurts his ability to take credit for it.

What prompted them to start talking?  Considering it has been almost 70 years of the DPRK not even recognizing the ROK, it is interesting to see how things are moving now.  I know a lot of people in the ROK and they do give some credit to Trump even though his style is a bit rough.  Regardless, it is good news, but I agree, KJU is not about to give up his power and his stifling of the people of the DPRK, so I don't really see this leading to reunification.
