Not to mention I would typically hold my President to a much different standard than media. I used to hold certain specific new outlets to a higher standard than others, though that has recently crumbled. Still, I would never expect the same level of responsibility from news media as I would from the President commenting on topics.

 

This thread allows for anyone to post a link to a "lie" from pretty much any website that anyone chooses to consider "leftist corporate media". CNN is included, as is the Washington Times and Vice. 

 

I intended (with a typo) to say "nebulously defined group". There are literally hundreds of websites/news outlets you could fit in this thread. If each one had just 10 employees reporting that would be literally thousands of people who could be caught telling a lie.

 

You are comparing that to the lies of one man.

Alex Jones is one guy. Just like Trump. CNN is an organization of thousands. Even if you just talk about reporters they have dozens if not hundreds.

 

It wasn't valid to compare "All media lies" to "Trump lies" before and it still really isn't valid to compare a single person to an entire media "grouping" ("Leftist media" or whatever you want to call it).

there's nothing in that thread that you haven't said here in this thread, basically you believe cnn is fake news and samantha bee/colbert aren't worth watching. that's awesome, but not the sort of hard fact evidence i require to change my opinion to believe that cnn churns out the same level of disinformation as infowars/alex jones - which was the original claim.

"Equivalence" will never be a thing for them. The common argument is "The other person was caught doing that once, so it's okay for this person to do it hundreds of time". They only need one example to feel vindicated. Same argument that is brought up comparing Trump to Obama. As long as Obama lied even once, it's okay for Trump to do it an average of 5+ times per day for his Presidency.

 

Or the alternative way to justify something is to pull examples from dozens of places and lump them all together, to compare it to examples from one single source. Hence the "Trump lies" thread versus the "Entire "left wing" media lies" thread. One man versus hundreds and somehow that is supposed to be equivalent.

I could not care less if this Sandy Hook parent or her lawyers takes Alex Jones for all his money.  I have never once come to his defense and never will.  Alex Jones is a joke and the few times I have actually heard him speak on a news channel made me want to turn the channel.  I was simply responding to the discussion regarding fake news sites such as CNN, the NYTimes, WaPo, etc.  One thing that came out of this whole fake news thing for me is that I don't watch any news channels at all.  It's so refreshing to not have to listen to fake and/or biased news.

 

Considering your comments, and holding the president to a different standard, I disagree.  Of all the professions in this great country, the media and members of the press are one that is actually mentioned in the constitution by name (and they remind everyone all the time).  The media has a lot of power, they can control the information out there and if they are biased in their decision as I contend and has actually been proven (go read Bernard Goldberg's book) it is a dis-service to the public.  And when they honor somebody like a Dan Rather with an award for promoting fake news, it just shows how hypocritical the mainstream media really is.  Everyone is so concerned about the Russians and the few hundred thousands of dollars they spent on FB, or other stuff, and yet we allow the media in this country to attempt political control through their bias.  The one thing that is great about the media today, is that we have such a variety.  Sure, it takes a little work to sift through, but it is much better than when we had only three networks and a few big time newspapers.

I don't know much about this Alex Jones guy but I had to see him making these ridiculous claims about Sandy Hook for myself. I have been unable to find any audio or video of him saying the things the article claims. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I question everything I don't see solid evidence to support. Like I said I don't know much about Jones and he may very well have said these things but it is a very serious allegation to make without presenting evidence. Maybe the videos have been taken off youtube but can someone at least provide a direct quote of what he allegedly said?

there's evidence. 

it's not like there's just one quote. he does a radio show talking about pretty much nothing but conspiracy. here's one example:

There are ways to retrieve it. A few moments of googling and I found them quick. The discussion on the Jan 2015 program with a radio caller on the subject was based off of his earlier well-established previous claims and materials that he had already spread throughout his organization.

I have to agree with @yuna628 on this as well, they are easily found if you do some searching but I wouldn't even spend 5 minutes on AJ.
