Hi, my interview date is on April 1, 2019 US Embassy Manila.

I'm so anxious on how the interview will go, what questions they might ask. I'm a local RN and USRN but i do not have any hospital nursing experience at all but my previous job was at a community healthcare sector overseas which is about 2.5 years. I am not sure if I will be asked how long have I worked as a nurse (i hope not). 

do you have any idea what questions they might ask?

Hi, I have a question. i was on a US tourist visa and was in the US on April 2018 - Oct 25, 2018. my situation is a bit complicated, please bear with me. My port of entry on April 2018 was Chicago O'hare. they have given me 32 days to stay in the US. So 7 days before my flight, i visited my lawyer in Chicago to ask what will happen if ever my PD (June 2017) becomes current. He suggested to extend my tourist visa hoping that my PD will become current, the current PD at that time was January 2017. It was really a gamble. I decided to extend my visa and got lucky that it was approved to Sept 29, 2018. About 2-3 weeks before my intended departure, my lawyer said i can still stay beyond Sept 29 as long as I don't stay there more than 180 days (6months). I decided to go for what my lawyer advised me to do, i stayed beyond Sept 29. We were both hoping that my PD will become current. So during my stay in the US for those months, I was doing all the tourist-y stuff, going places, going to different states. I have savings and my mom is helping me financially as well. And then i received an email from the homeland security asking me down to their office on Nov. 8 to update my I-94, my visa status if I'm still in the US or send them a proof of my departure from the US. So i contacted my lawyer right away. Now he suggested to just go back to the Philippines and just send him and the homeland security a copy of my US departure and wait for my visa interview offshore.

 

Now i have my visa interview this April 1, 2019 at the US Embassy Manila. I am so worried if i might be asked about this issue. is there anyone here who had the same dilemma as me? or you know someone who has encountered the same problem? i would very much appreciate if anyone here has any idea. I asked my lawyer what is the appropriate answer to this. 

 

**While I was in Chicago, my lawyer mentioned about "INA section 245k" and I will be protected by this law because I did not violate the 180 days mark in overstaying the visa. the thing is, I dont know how to answer someone if I will be asked about this. can you please enlighten me if anyone knows about this law. I have read about this law but still somehow gets confused and not know how to formulate an answer related to this law

Hi I had my employment based immigrant visa interview on 9th April 2019, CO issued 221(g). Below is a brief content of 221(g).

 

Further Consideration will be given to your application on submission of:

- ABC 

- XYZ 

You must submit the above document(s) and your passport(s) to any of the 11 document drop-off locations. 

 

Generally we will be asked to submit passport after submitting missing documents. but here 

My question is, is it a positive sign that my 221(g)  states to submit passport(s) along with the documents?? Response is highly appreciated. 

 

At the end of the interview, even Consular officer informed to submit passports along with the requested documents.

We had our interview on april 3rd at Mumbai.

Experience here below. 

 

First step : Go to Counter 1 to collect token number

Second step : document verification by indian officials at the counters by token number.

Third Step : Final interview by american officials. I was asked basic questions like when i came to the US. What was my job. What made me come under the extra ordinary abilty. What visas i held previously.

My husband: When we got married. Where he lived in the Usa. What was his job

After this he gave us the your visa is approved slip and sent us away.

It was 11:40 by the time we had our interview. The interview lasted about 8-10 minutes . 

We were the only EB1 category. Rest all appeared to be family or spouse visa.

Received passport in 3 business days and entered USA successfully .

Now the wait for the card to be sent home.

 

Have all your paperwork. It should be smooth.

Looks like they have started scheduling EB Visa interviews for June. Someone got Abu Dhabi consulate EB3 interview letter email yesterday, May 3rd.

Me and my husband were making the wrong line but a guy from the consulate passed by us telling people that for greencard you have to be in the other line! Do you have a waiver? I did. ( I overstayed my visa and I needed a Waiver for this. She did not ask any questions about my visa overstayed)

Then she said our visas where approved and that we should received our passport in 5 to 7 business days! 

And we did received our passports in 7 business days!

 

We were very nervous about this interview as my husband had like 3 promotions where basically his job duties had changed! His work had not yet updated this information! The lawyer said this should not be a problem as this is a progression of his job! 

At the end this things don’t matter because the officer actually has minimal knowledge of what you really do!

 

Social security cards were received in 2 weeks after we arrived to the US! 

Greencards were received 1 month and 5 days later, and it was a greencard for 10 years

 

 And another thing that I want to add is that my husband is Indian and I am from Honduras! My husband was able to use my country of birth as his country (it is allowed to use your spouse country of birth), and he skipped the 15 year line for Indians, as my country is current!
