Hello everyone,

I'm new here, so forgive me if this question has been answered before.

I'm just starting the process to bring my fiancée to the US. I would like for her to quit her job so that I can support her while we are applying for the K-1 Visa. I meet the requirements for my income being above the minimum for two people in the US.

I was wondering if it is better for her to show that she is working and has a solid work history as we go through this process? I am not sure if that is even looked at by immigration. I do wonder, though, if it is better for her to be working to show that she plans to continue working and would have a good work-ethic once she comes to America.

Am I overthinking this? Thanks for any help you can give.

John

The beneficiaries employment history or anything for immigration doesn't matter.

As for employment in the US later, does it look better? Maybe; but a lot don't even care about foreign work like that, it's US work experience they like to see (or obviously any degree/certifications, ect).

Also, sometimes seeing the US petitioner sending money to the beneficiary can be looked badly upon by the embassy. So you may want to review how that type of thing is viewed in the Vietnam portal. Ususally sending a little money here and there is okay but when it becomes full on support it could raise suspicion so to say; but not always the case.

Really to me, is there any specific need for her to not work at all during the process? My now husband full time work the entire process and only put in his two weeks notice  a week a head of our interview for the K-1. That way he could work literally until 2 days before he got on a plane to the US.

Hi,

Thank you so much for your reply.

Among the other reasons I would like to support her, my fiancée's office recently moved quite a distance away from her home, so she has a long commute now.

I have sent money to her before because we are saving for an engagement party later in the year. I am a bit concerned if this is an issue or looks bad somehow, so thank you for letting me know. And, please forgive my ignorance on all of this as we're just getting started on this process.

Thank you,

John
