Someone finally replied to me last week but it appeared to be a copy and paste. They basically said they have no record of it there but I sent it certified mail and tracking said it was delivered and signed for on the 20th.

Should I resubmit the entire thing even though it will be late now?

Relax it can take a month before you hear anything.

Just because the green card is expired does not mean anything has changed in her status.

It's for the alien only. No one else is required to go with her.

You may or may not be allowed inside the building if you accompany her.

Hey everyone,

We finally got the biometrics appointment. Does wife go alone or do I have to go with her? I'm the US citizen.

Thanks

I know in Detroit I always went with my wife for biometrics appointments and I was always let in,  but when they called her for the biometrics it was only her.

Hey all, here is the latest on this and a question..

We went to the biometrics appointment today. Everything went fine but we made a stupid mystake and the appointment was for yesterday! They did process my wife but they told her she should report it. Should we and who too? My thinking is we are fine seeing as they processed her.

The next question is about going traveling to the Philippines. Are we ok to do that with the temporary green card?

Thanks so much everyone, could not have gotten this far without you!

Sorry to say but it seems like you keep making simple, stupid mistakes. You should take RoC seriously as this requires strict adherence to USCIS' rules. These mistakes can cost you and your spouse if you are not careful with doing the right thing and taking your time to re-assess your stuff.

Yes, it was a stupid mistake. My wife had the letter in her purse the entire time and we both thought it was for the 8th, not the 7th. We have a lot going on here and it is very tough for me to keep up with everything and we have been dealing with this immigration stuff for years now. We have a 2 year old, a family member with cancer and on top of that I am self employed. We take it very seriously but mistakes do happen. We thought it was for the 7th and it was for the 8th. The question now is what if anything do we need to do about it? If it was a huge issue then why did they process her?

I am completely worn out with this process and the new immigration policies they are working on are really scary.

All the more to keep on top of this. Soon they will be able to deny petitions without sending RFE’s.

If her her gc is not expired and/or you have the extension letter you are fine to travel outside the US.

They did process my wife but they told her she should report it.

Honestly it's up to you. If they tell her to report it (which you do by calling or writing a statement), but then you ask if it's necessary then it's up to you.

Chances are she will be fine. People miss their bio appointments all the time.

-----

I also see that you're worried about the new laws Trump is putting in place. A lot of those things coming up are tightening the laws so when you make mistakes because you didn't check, you get denied and they won't tell you why. The gov doesn't care for why you've made multiple mistakes, and before they would at least tell you what your mistake was but that's ending.

We're all tired of immigration and we all have lives, that's why it's so important to quadruple check your paperwork before sending it, so you have to deal with immigration as little as possible.

Yep, since her GC is expired to travel abroad she'll need her expired green card and her NOA1 that should have came before the biometrics appointment.

Thank you, yes.. One person told her she should report it but nobody else said anything. I guess I can send am email. I am just honestly afraid I will make matters worse.

The particular changes that have me worried are the ones regarding the AFA. Since we have been back in the USA we have used the AFA and we have gotten some subsidies to reduce our bill. Otherwise we would not have been able to afford healthcare at all and signing up was required.

Now they are working on rules to make it harder for people who have used those benefits in the past 3 years. This is what really scares me. We are doing the process 100% legally and still we could have serious problems.

Note: Insurance was NOT required. You simply had a penalty at tax time if you didn't take it. We took the penalty for the last two years, because the  AFA insurance wasn't even affordable for us on it's lowest tier. Required or Mandatory insurance would have made it so that they forced insurance upon you and took money out of your check or added taxes to products to pay for insurance they made you have whether you wanted it or not.

Also, there's nothing you can do about it at the moment, not until all of that gets passed and you find out if it affects those who did it while legally. As most said, the chances of it affecting those that had insurance while it was legal and okay to do so, is slim to none because it will be heavily fought at at the court level.
