Got an RFE for recent income tax return

Hello Guys!

 

I'm a November filer. Just wondering if any of you received an RFE for the most recent tax year?

I got and RFE last Apr. 4  asking for it. My concern is, the filing will be over until tomorrow. My husband filed his income tax return already. But I can't request for 1040 yet since IRS can't provide it right away after filing this year. They gave me 87 days to comply my RFE. I can request for 1040 by the end of May only and it will take up to 75 days. I only have until July 1.

 

Is a copy of 2017 W2 and 1040EZ  (summary of the return) form will be enough to send this time as a proof that he really filed? or should I wait for the complete 1040?

 

Anybody who has the same predicament as me? Need advice.

Same confusion/predicament. My fiancé just filed his taxes the other day and I have copies of the summary but I’m also wondering if this will suffice. I read on the IRS timetable that it will take up to 6 weeks if you did not file electronically for the tax transcript to be issued. I don’t know if the summary is proof of having filed? 

 

I hope some more knowledgeable users come along soon 😐

I am not more knowledgeable but I am  a September filer and  we received an RFE for the most recent tax year around the same time with you. 

We send copy of 2017 W2 and 1040 to USCIS 10 days ago and they said they received it there was no problem with it.

But of course I am still not quite sure what to do when it comes to USCIS

I only got a copy of the 1040EZ form after he filed at turbo tax last week. Its not a return tax transcript yet from IRS. Is the 1040 you sent was the tax return transcript from IRS already or just the form and proof that you filed already.

It was just the form. We got help from Block Advisors and he gave us the signed copy of 1040 Individual Income Tax Return Form for 2017. 

We sent one copy to IRS one copy to USCIS at the same time.

Thank you. I might do the same now. I'm sure USCIS knows already that we can't have the transcript right away after filing. At least, we gave them a proof that our sponsors filed the recent tax year though.

How was it? Did they give your EAD/AP already after they received your RFE?

No I haven' heard anything from them yet. I got a job offer and I put a request for expedite last week. Told them it's time sensitive. But they are taking their sweet sweet time and don't rush anything. God knows I don't have an energy to deal with that anymore. It's been 220 days now.

They received my RFE reply last Apr 24 and they changed my AOS status to 'Case is ready and to be scheduled for interview' last May 2. Then I checked my status again yesterday, in my EAD it says 'New card is produced' and they will just mail it to me. Then my AP it says 'Appeal is dismissed'. So i don't really know if that's the work permit already. 

 

Its kinda unfair for us waiting this long and the once who applied from January this year got their GC already in 3 months or less. I dont understand why USCIS do that. They should prioritize the one who waited this long already.

I am so glad to hear your EAD is on the way!!!

 

I have no idea what went wrong with my case. They got my RFE at April 10 and got nothing's going on since then. I feel like expedite request won't work too.

Did you call them? I think it really depends on the office. LA office is fast. Im in Baltimore and most of the last years apps got theirs recently only too. Do a service request online. That's what i did. But it will take a month before they reply still. Its crazy. But maybe yours is on the way soon too coz youve waited this long already. Best of luck.

Nothing worked. Got no money to hire a lawyer. And I have serious doubts about mine is on the way. Infopass officer told me to wait 10 more days yesterday.

That's crazy then. And even if you hire a lawyer too, i think it'll be useless still coz its in the USCIS hands. We'll just hope they do something about it soon. Even at least for the EAD only for now. Its not easy to be jobless this long. They don't want us to work illegally here, so they should approve our EAD petition in the said frame time.

Tell me about it... I have 10 years of carreer and a Ph.D .

Sitting at home all day last 7 months is not a good way to start your marriage. They cause us financial loss and mental health. And lots of stress you have to go through.

How did you know?? My status changed as "New Card Is Being Produced" yesterday around 4.00 pm  :))))))
