Visas still needed to travel to other countries?

Since we were shocked to find that the card production was ordered already yesterday, we're already trying to plan for a couple of trips this summer and fall. We want to go to Denmark and to Canada. As a Ghanaian holding a passport from Ghana, will my husband need to try and get tourist visas for other countries even though he is now a permanent resident (on the 2 year conditional green card)? It's usually almost impossible for average Ghanaians (and anyone in the developing world) to get visas for these places. Does that change with the green card?

I don't think being permanent residence of US changes visa requirement except probably visit to Mexico. Most likely he will need a visa to visit mentioned countries, if he also need one as citizen of his country.

Your best bet would be to visit the website of the consulate of the countries you intend to visit - you will see document requirements for visa application, etc.

To Canada, yes (a US GC holder doesn't need a visa); to Denmark, no change.

Yup. Canada has a special deal for GC holders.

I believe, it'll be a lot easier for your husband to get a visa to Denmark now that he's a U.S. permanent resident. The only thing the Dannish immigration is concerned, is how tempted a visitor would be to stay in Denmark while visiting. Since he's already living in the U.S. with his spouse, they may think he won't be tempted that much.

I guess it would seem that he and I would return to the U.S., but with those cradle-to-grave social welfare programs and great healthcare in Northern Europe and Canada we would both be tempted to stay there!

I wonder if it's easier or not to get visas to other developing countries....
