Hi everyone!

I am in the process of getting a K1 visa, I estimate I will have my interview in mid June.  My parents, sister and niece would like to go to the wedding and want to get their visas, so here's the thing:

1. My dad is retired, he's 72, but has assets as houses, cars and he recently bought some land that he is still paying off, do you think that's enough ties to my country? My mom, sister and niece (My sister's daughter, she's two) are his dependants, and my sister is currently enrolled in college.

2. Would you recommend they applied for their visas before or after I get approved for my K1? If they were to have their interview before mine, would it be suspicious to say they intend to visit for my wedding even though I haven't got my K1 yet? They are obviously not intending to stay in the US, so I wouldn't wanna give that impression not even in the slightest.

Thank you, everyone!

I think it make no measurable difference when they apply.

The Consulate is the one who determines the application and they of course have full details.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I concur...when exactly they apply isn't likely to be a factor here. They don't really care why they want to come to the US, just that they will leave, as will be demonstrated via their strong ties to return home.

Thank you, that makes a lot of sense. Do you think the things I mentioned would be considered as strong ties?

Their age is probably the strongest tie IMHO. They have no means to stay legally in the US (at least for several years...when you become a USC), and property and some dependent family back home.

I'm not a gambling person, so I would just say they should apply and find out. If they had no realistic chance, I would just say not to waste the application fee instead. :)

Parents ties seem reasonable.

Hi Anaid

I had the same doubts than you but the last March my mom had her interview for Tourist visa and she was approved, I could be with her in interview because she is 70 years old, she is homewife and she did not have incomes and live with my brother and I, so we had all information about my brother and I for her Interview, I inclued all information about my K1 process,  but the interview was really fast, the consul onle did  3 questions :

1.- What is the reason you want the visa?

2.- When you will go to USA?

3.- Has been in USA before?

and she said than her visa is for attend the wedding her daugher because is planning get married in USA

the consul not asked any document.

I hope this information help you

I will have my interview for k1 in May
