I have applied for Fiancé visa February 1st 2018, my fiancé went to interview in October 2018. The officer told her with the evidence you have provided we have no reason not to give you the visa, it’s just the new Trump’s law that we have to process another step to be able to issue you the visa. They told her in 3-6 months we will ask you to send your passport to issue the visa. They asked for few information and we provided all the information the needed for extensive background check. They did receive the informations on November 1st 2018. When I check the status of the case in their website said it will take between 6-10 months and it’s been already 3 months now. Just sitting and praying for her to get the visa and move to the United States, otherwise I don’t know what else to do if she gets denied. A lot of people are telling me it won’t happen but I have hope that she will get the visa (fingers crossed)

I'm sorry you and your fiancé are affected by this. My fiancé and I are in a similar situation and have been waiting since September 2018 for an answer on our visa. Many more are out there that have been waiting for more than a year or two as well.

The below thread would be a good place for you to start reading up on other US citizens with spouses/fiancés in banned countries.

Hoping and praying a way will be made soon for all of us to be with our loved ones.

That is my second option now that this ban was upheld. My fiance has his interview in a couple of weeks and just continue to pray that he is at least granted a waiver. Otherwise, I'm with you, I'd have to travel South and get my dual citizenship.

Did your fiancé get approved??

Yes, I'm also curious how Lovelise26's case is going and anyone else that can provide updates. My fiancee is preparing for her interview in Germany. I am writing a letter addressing the consular officer to the effect of asking for the waiver, presenting our situation and making the case for why it is in their best interest and how this meets the guidelines of the waiver process. Otherwise, I have to move to Germany. We really can't wait years for this to happen. We are considering presenting our story to media outlets as well but I want to do this respectfully in good faith.

No updates here. We are heading into our 9 month (in April) since his interview. After April, we'll decide if he'll travel to Mexico instead and wait 2 years so that I can get him a Mexican Citizenship and re-apply as a married couple and with his Mexican Passport instead of his Iranian passport.

The officer will not accept the letter for waiver. We had our letters written and they would not take it.

I'm not so sure the Mexican passport will work like you think. If he has travelled to or resided in Iran since 2011 or so, my understanding is that he will still have to undergo "extreme vetting" which is also taking an unknown length of time to complete. It seems to be another black hole, aka the silent travel ban.

Just posted this on the Travel Ban Support thread as well, but does anyone know if this is accurate?  The article is saying Canadians with dual citizenship with a banned country are free to enter the US without needing a waiver/extreme vetting. News to me if this is true.

Anybody with at least 1 citizenship not on the banned countries list is not subject to the ban.

Extended background checks can apply to any alien, and the precise criteria as to what triggers them is not public. Having spent time in certain countries is highly suspected to be one of them.

Yes, correct. I was just wondering if anyone else had had experience with this. I received the above article from my fiancé’s cousin who has Canadian/Iranian citizenship and frequently travels between Toronto and the US without any issue. So many moving parts to immigration that it gets confusing!
