Question about I-130 processing times for LPRs vs. USCs

Hello! My apologies if this has already been asked, but I was doing some researching tonight and came across this graph for TSC I-130 timelines. It shows the LPR filing for spouse or child under 21 are between 5-7 months wait time. Whereas, the USC filing for the same thing has approx. 7.5-9.5 months of wait. Just curious why it would be longer for the USC's petition to get approved? Based on what I'm seeing on VJ, this doesn't seem so accurate...but I don't want to get my hopes up and I'd rather know what truthfully to expect as a USC who filed an I-130 for my spouse.

Thank you!

Yes, I noticed that too. I'm a USC who filed for my spouse and from the USCIS stage, it took 6.5 months for me to have my case approved and my service center was Nebraska. I've met a lot of others who took 7-9 months from potomac and nebraska service centers, so I guess we can't really tell. Could also be just our luck but who knows.

Good luck on your journey!

One other thing to note for LPR applying for their immediate relatives is that they have to wait for a visa number to become available, whereas spouses of USC do not have to wait. So technically, even though the i130 may be processed faster, overall, LPRs still take about 2 years on average compared to 1year+ for USC.

As noted it is only for the I130 to be looked at not for the petition to go any where .  Quick approval actually hurts people wanting a large CPSA cushion.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
