Hi friends!

Is there anyone with recent interview experience at the Casablanca Consulate? My fiance's interview is in a couple of weeks and we want to prepare as best we can. We have been practicing recently and we have been looking over the list of the interview questions that are available. I have heard its a tough consulate and that he should be serious, straightforward, etc. Everyone is saying not to worry because my fiance and I have been dating for 4 years and I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco.  I am nervous that their will be some curveballs or he might get and extremely grumpy CO. What kind of questions might be asked since I lived in Morocco for two years and we have been in such a long term relationship? Someone told me that they might ask the more difficult questions, What would those look like? I would like some examples if possible.

I wanted to see if anyone had recently been through this process in recents months and can share tips, experience, etc. I really appreciate any insight!

Why did you not marry in Morocco?

We did not marry in Morocco because I am an only child and my parents cannot afford to come to Morocco for a wedding. My mom has also wanted to make my wedding dress since I was a child, which doesn't necessarily follow the traditional Moroccan wedding. So we made a compromise that we would marry first in the US and give my parents time ti save up money. We will have a Moroccan wedding 2 summers from now. My parents will hopefully be retired or they will be able to save up enough money to travel to Morocco for the wedding celebration.

You're asking his parents to sacrifice because you didn't want your parents to. You could have worn a dress your mom made in Morocco and changed later to a traditional Moroccan one. It would have been better had you married there then done your US wedding later. People who've been through the consulate lately have been sharing their experiences on FB.

They often ask questions that they wouldn't know answers to. What books do you like to read, what bramd of make up you wear, or just weird stuff so if they ask a question just have him pause for a moment, think if that was in your paperwork. If not, just show confidence in his answers.

well,  I volunteered my skills in Morocco for 3 months working with handicapped adults and knew my husband for several years before trying K1

they asked "what color is her bedroom carpet:" at least he knew i had done all hardwood floors in my house even though he did not know what that meant

they can ask anything

often they will ask a question like "what did she eat for breafast and expect the person to say "she is still sleeping as Morocco is 5 hours ahead"

and when someone says tea and bread they know not real truth answers

mostly now they want to know future plans in the US

will financee work or study?

Is the financee English good?  Do not do intervew in other language / they offer but they want the person to know English as they will be living here

poise and confidence are important

short quick answers /  long drawn out answers make it look like the person is making up a story as he/she goes along

dress neatly

take the interview seriously as it is serious to embassy

incha allah

all will go good

allah yessir

Your fiancé should be able to answer any small details about you (what's your favorite book, movie, type of food).

Your fiancé needs to answer the questions directly and not too many extra details. For example, if asked when you first met, all he should say is the date. Then wait for the CO to ask additional questions.

My fiance/husband now is Algerian (not Moroccan)....but my fiance was asked why he loved me  (aka what we had in common, personality traits). He was also asked why we didn't meet in Algeria (we met in Germany instead of Algeria....we were both visiting Europe). They also asked about if my family met my fiance  (my sister had) and what his family thought of me...

In addition, my fiance was ready to answer about every single small detail about my life....he knew where my parents were born and their dates of birth  (and my mother's date of death).....my dogs names and their breed, hobbies, daily schedule....etc....

I agree with the other posts above.....answer questions but do not engage the interviewer....and be ABSOLUTELY confident with every answer  (if he doesn't know your first car's nickname from 20 years ago.....just say "I don't know")

I was in Algeria during my fiance's interview...if you can be in Morocco...I think it would be beneficial.

I think everything will be fine...just be prepared to answer that question about not marrying in morocco because I am the only child too but we got denied the fiance visa so we had a big wedding in morocco and had to apply for cr1 but your situation is different so i think you may receive a visa at the first interview
