What's after NOA2 in Ukraine? [split topic]

Hi there, I see this is an old thread and Russian-centric.  I'd like to follow up for any recent changes, and most especially for Ukraine.  My NOA1 was December 4th, 2017, hoping for the NOA2 in early June or sooner.

So let me see if I've got this straight for Ukraine.  Most importantly I want to try to be proactive in monitoring the steps:

1. ~2 weeks for file to get to NVC from USCIS

2. After two weeks I can call to get the case number from the NVC to track the case online.

3. I, the petitioner, may or may not get a letter with this case number, and it's critical towards further tracking of the visa.

2. NVC will process and send file to Kiev - looking like around 15 days currently.

3. Interview is scheduled with Beneficiary (by phone?) once Consulate receives file from NVC

5. Schedule medical exam -- sorry what's the min/max timeframe between medical exam and interview date?

7. Interview (looking like about six weeks on average for Kiev after NOA2 currently?)

8. Acquire visa ~5 days after interview by mail to beneficiary?

Any help in making this list more accurate would be greatly appreciated.

The above is split from a 10-year-old thread here in the RUB forum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

the timeline to receive an NOA2 and when it gets to NVC all is variable. you can PM me if you want more detail....my fiance is going through it right now.  look at my signature.

you have to fill out the DS-160 and when your case is "ready" at the embassy....you can setup your medical and interview.  Leave a little bit of time between Medical and interview. The medical place is kinda busy at the moment.  Our first appointment was available April 6, 2018 and she had to wait for April 11 2018 for the next one available

Best of luck with the interview tomorrow Alabamak1.  Let me know how it goes.  According to your timeline, it looks like the 6 week period between NOA2 and Interview is a reasonable expectation. That will be a sight for sore eyes after months of waiting for progress.

.

As a side note, I've read that the State Department had an online application process that they rolled out for green cards and potentially other visas, but it messed up thousands of applications.  They'll be trying again in 2020.

Hi @Ducker We got approved yesterday. The interview was easy as apple pie. I highly suggest to go with your fiance to the interview. IMO the process is very smooth, but you being there makes it much more easy. The CO was friendly and i didnt have to answer anything, but I did and since the paerwork was in order...we didnt spend but 6 minutes in the interview.

Read my consulate review and good luck.

That's excellent news as well.  The neccessary arrangements that I'm foreseeing are taking the time off from work to attend my fiancee's interview, but then staying in Ukraine with her in order to come back with her and the visa, which would probably mean taking 2 weeks off from work.  Is this what you're doing?

I wish I had the time. She has to take care of some properties she is trying to sell, close her business and minor stuff. We plan to get her over by the end of May.

Hi @Alabamak1, would you be so kind to let me know what's required for USC to go to the interview?
Does USC need to ask for a “permission” from the consulate first?
Does USC need to fill out DS-160 for that?
Any other forms and/or paperwork?

I tried to find that information myself, but haven't succeeded.

Thank you in advance.

all you need as a USC to attend the interview is your passport, but I can only talk about the Kiev embassy. they allowed me to stand by my fiance at the interview also. Some embassy don't even allow you to go in to the embassy while the fiance is being interviewed. In Kiev, no prior notice required or special exception to go in with her/him inside

@Alabamak1, thank you for the detailed explanation.
My fiancee is from Belarus, her interview will be in Warsaw, Poland.

I have checked all 15 pages of the Belarus portal, but haven't found the info I needed. There were a couple of posts from a few years ago, but I wanted recent information.

all you need as a USC to attend the interview is your passport, but I can only talk about the Kiev embassy. they allowed me to stand by my fiance at the interview also. Some embassy don't even allow you to go in to the embassy while the fiance is being interviewed. In Kiev, no prior notice required or special exception to go in with her/him inside

@Alabamak1, how will the security officers at the embassy entrance know/confirm I'm legitimately there for my fiancee's interview and not some random person?
Or, do they let all USCs into the building without an issue?
