My lawyer sent it for me.  But i dont know how to check if the check has been cashed or no . Or should i ask him

I can’t really remember right now but the NOA1 was like a receipt. If you get it it was because they cash it. You can always call your bank.

I thought the best idea was to call once a week. I called on Monday and they said it could take up to 2 months before they asign case number.

True, but they can assign within days or take the whole 2 months. The sooner you know it the sooner you can pay the fees and send the documents.

I spoke to a lady on monday and she said to call back next monday to check if our petition has arrived. I decided to call today (Thursday) and it was there. I saved 3 days. Same thought to the case number matter.

You are right. However in my case, no matter the faster I get all the documents done and the fees paid I still need to wait. I'm subject to the 2 years home residency requirement because of a J1 visa I had in 2016-2017. It won't be done until the mid of the summer of next year.

Oh I see. I have a friend on the same situation. There’s the possibility to get a waive but it seems It’s getting 1,5 year to be appreciated, so, almost the same time.

I hope summer comes fast to you! 🙏🏻

On the USCIS website, the status changed for my I-129F petition. It changed from "Case was Received" to "Case Closed Benefit Received By Other Means". What does this mean exactly? Is there any significance for the I-130? Thank you!

Thank you, in my case it was a program sponsored by the US Gov so it makes it harder to get a waiver. I hope everything goes fast with yours.

Who exactly did you call?

I called the NVC (immigrant visa number), and some guy who seemed slightly annoyed picked up and told me has no information about my case and that I should be calling the USCIS instead of them.

Your lady sounded much friendlier, i hope she picks up the next time i call them.

"Phone (for immigrant visa inquiries only):
(603) 334-0700. Customer Service Representatives can speak with you Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight EST, excluding holidays."

I used the above number (the above was taken from: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/national-visa-center/nvc-contact-information.html)

Is that the number you used?

Congrats! Out of curiosity, did you receive an electronic notification? Or just the hard copy in the mail?

Quick question to the knowledgeable people.

Does NVC send the first notification mail to the petitioner or the beneficiary?

Context: I received my NOA2 only a few days back, I shall two weeks before I call. My wife (beneficiary) is in a different country now since I-130 was filed. So her address on file is not current, and the eventual visa interview needs to happen in a different consulate than it was mentioned in the petition. When I call them, I shall notify all these to them. Just curious, where does NVC send their first correspondence, for instance, lets say I don't call at all and wait for the mail from them.

Thanks.
