I put Moscow on the 1-129F for the interview because I thought it was the only location but there appears to be more. I don't want him to have to go so far.  Is there one closer and can I change it now? and how?

Also, I thought he would have to fill out a DS-160 but I don't see it on the checkoff list.  Does he have to fill that out?  I have submitted the 1-129F application and am waiting for approval...what to do next?  I want to be proactive. Is there anything I can do in the meantime?

Moscow is the only place for a K-1

I always find it humbling to see posts like this and the distances some people have to travel for their visa interview. In this case, the applicant will need to make a journey of a little over 3,000 miles each way. Some people have to travel to another country as their country is too small to have its own embassy. I read a thread on here from someone whose fiancé or spouse had to travel by bus for 10 hours from Burundi to another country - only for the interview to be cancelled when he arrived due to the embassy being without electricity or something. It does bother me when I read on the U.K. forum where people are moaning they have to travel 300 miles to London for their interview and I always like to refer them to such cases as this.

Definitely, and particularly in Russia (relative to distances).  Katya lived in Krasnoyarsk and once took the train to Moscow for a B1 interview which took her more than two days one way.  For our K1 she took a flight which is still over 4 hours away.

To the OP, yes, I believe Moscow is the only consulate in Russia that handles K1s even though it is a non-immigrant visa, the consulates handle it like an immigrant visa.

Good Luck!

I didn't realize quite where the OP's fiancé was. I thought A's trip from Kirov to Moscow (about 12 hours by train or two hours by plane -- and unless I'm with her, she's taking the train) was pretty long...

Thanks everyone. He's definitely worth it. Of course money is always an issue. I'm a school teacher. He's a firefighter taking care of a paralyzed father for the past 5 years. I am amazed at his strength and dedication to his family. I'm in awe of him and the Russian soul.

Now I thought I remembered where this is, from many years ago:

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Yep! Siberia. The coldest city on Earth! And to my surprise gets up around 100F in the summer.

Dumbest thing I ever said in my life: Don't you think it's a little chilly in here? Hahaha

Katya was in Krasnoyarsk this past January and spent about 8 days at -40. Yakutsk area of course can get even colder, but much of Siberia gets really cold.
