Do I need a police certificate?

Hi.

 

Do I need to send a police certificate to NVC if I lived in Australia for almost 12 months (a few days shy)?

Also, do the petitioner (my spouse), which is an America Citizen, but currently living abroad, need to submit any Police certificates as well? 

She also lived in Australia at the same time as I did.

 

I currently live in Norway and have never lived anywhere else other than that time in Australia.

Police certificates need to be submitted at NVC, so you'll need it before the interview

I'm not sure if this is valid for us...?  We are applying for a IR1 visa for a spouse of an American citizen, not a K1 Visa.

I am aware that both of us need one from Norway, since this is where we are situated at the moment, but I'm unsure if we should request one from Australia as well, since we both were students there for almost 12 months.

Police Certificate still needs to be provided for every country you lived while 16/older.

 Same link there is a section for police certificate. So, to answer your question, YES he/she will need a police certificate after age of 16 if living abroad.

I guess you are right. At least it wouldn't hurt to get one just to be safe... 

 

Just a hassle to have to get this now.. ugh

Are you Australian by nationality or citizenship? Then any stay over 6 months needs a police cert.

If not then even though you are a few days short of 1 year consecutively I would get one.  It probably will not be needed, but a few days is hard to prove.

I am not... I was there for almost 12 months as a student.

 

It does sound the smartest to get one then. And I do not need to get one for my wife (the petitioner) right?
