Proof of compelling reasons to return to Ghana.  Employment, financial ties, home/property ownership, schooling etc.

Doesn't sound like you have many ties travelling as a student, someone else supporting you financially and also paying for your trip..all you can do is try---good luck.

You need to prove ties to Ghana, sounds like your main one will be a lette from your university confirming you are still enrolled in studying there.

Best to show that you can afford it out of your own funds.

Show that you are still enrolled or registered in your school.

present to the consul an affidavit of support from your cousin backing up with your cousin's income/ financial status of your cousin.

may be a letter of invitation too from your Friend in Harrisburg.

*just try applying. Dont listen to what other people say. I got a 10 yrs tourist visa via my aunt. As long as your cousin earns sufficient and you are a student. You will be fine.

If you own properties... bank records..,credit card. You can show that too.

Dont make up something financially. Just be honest. If you have a concrete plan.. like you will go there for three weeks and we plan to go to so and so.. you will be fine.

Neither of these will be considered for a tourist visa. That's an urban myth.

From the DOS itself: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visitor.html

"Note: Visa applicants must qualify on the basis of the applicant's residence and ties abroad, rather than assurances from U.S. family and friends. A letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support is not needed to apply for a visitor visa. If you choose to bring a letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support to your interview, please remember it is not one of the factors used in determining whether to issue or deny the visa."

I see. Sorry im just sharing my experience.  You shouldnt be scare to apply,

Anyway I was only a student when I applied. I dont have money in the bank and i dont have properties. I showed them my parent's finances.

Showed them my aunt's invitation and also that she will finance my trip. I also told them what was plan during the trip. I dont have a ticket at that time. As long as you have a clean conscience that you are just visiting. You answer them truthfully. You will be fine.

Anyway just try.
