I submitted a letter for rescheduling my AoS interview 10 days in advance (I handed the envelop myself to the office, so it was received the same day; the interview is on Apr 19, but I gave them the letter on Monday 9th). It was a dental appointment for my tooth surgery so pretty strong reason.

Now after 3 days has passed and no updates yet. How long does it take to hear back? Do they send me a letter first, or what? Should I also call USCIS?

Unfortunately they are very slow and it might take some time to process your request to reschedule. Likely everything is going to be fine and once they have a new date for your interview they'll send you a new interview letter. There are always the chances though, that your letter doesn't make it on time to the interviewing officer and he will issue a no-show (AOS denied) if this happens. The chances of that are low but it does happen to people.... like me! If I were you I would immediately schedule an infopass appointment and talk to someone there whether they reviewed your request to reschedule and see whether they are aware that you won't be attending your interview on April 19th. That way you know that everything is okay for your own piece of mind.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience. Wondering if calling them would be the same as in person InfoPass?!

You can't call your field office, can you? At least at mine you can't. From what I know you only get the people on the phone from the Benefits Center in Missouri. And never trust what they tell you on the USCIS generic phone line (even tier 2) cause they kept on telling me that everything is fine and my request to reschedule was granted. They don't know what's going on at the field office.

If you have the time to go I'd just do an infopass to talk someone in person. I had an official letter saying that they granted my request to reschedule (which you likely won't even get before your interview date because it's so soon) and I still went because I wanted to be reassured that everything is fine. There's nothing to lose except for a little bit of time.

Yes, I went there. And she said they have it, and she said she will pu 60 day. She gave me an InfoPass summary saying "please allow up to 60 days to receive a new interview". Does it mean it is postponed exactly 60 days?!

They generally try to reschedule it within 60 days but that is not guaranteed. Mine was 95 days later after the original one. Others wait several months.

For my case, the later, the better! I hope it is at least 3 months! At least not anytime sooner than 2 months :-/

Oh what really?! You're probably the only one thinking that. haha

Because of the dental surgery? Did you tell the IO at your infopass that you would prefer later? Which field office are you? I'm surprised you got an infopass so fast

I'm in Dallas. Not really told her. I just told her I want to make sure my surgery is good by then. She put 60!

I had to reschedule due to international travel. Mailed my request to the local office, received a letter in about a week basically just letting me know that they cancelled my interview per my request and will reschedule later. Then I had over a month of silence: no letters, no updates on my online account, it was still showing the original interview date, even after the date has passed. Eventually, my account online got updated with an interview date and I'm getting ready to go to my interview on Tuesday.

Thanks for sharing that. So how long was the total postpone?

39 days from the original interview date. My situation is kind of unusual though: I received my first interview date about 48 hours after my fingerprints. According to USCIS customer service that is unusual for non-military. Completed fingerprints January 31st, I got my notice on February 2nd, interview was scheduled for March 8th. Got a letter back from the office around February 10th, the letter was dated February 6th. My online account finally got updated March 18th with the new interview date.
