If anything, I would assume that they could still send P3 to the petitioner and request that they forward it to the beneficiary.

I just emailed them just in case as well - i'm jumping ahead of myself as I am a January filer - but I don't want anything else to cause delays after this long NOA2 wait to begin with. Thanks for keeping us updated. Also, have you applied for your Police Certificate? I assume we just do the basic one? "Name-based criminal record checks" And these are supposed to be valid for a year (if I'm not mistaken) ?

Our NOA2 is dated March 15 2018.

NVC emailed us twice two weeks later on March 29 2018 to advise:
   1) Our petition was approved; and

   2) "The U.S. Embassy in MONTREAL, CAN approved your request for expedited processing of your immigrant visa application."
(Note: Both emails contain the MTL number)

DS-160 was completed the next day on March 30 2018.

Case has been "READY" on CEAC since April 3 2018.

I sent Packet 3 on April 8 2018 without receiving it from the Embassy (I had read some people say not to wait for the letter/email).

Embassy emailed me back on April 10 2018 basically saying just keep waiting, don't send Packet 3 again.

So here I am on April 12 2018, just waiting like a fool for someone to contact me.

You made an error by completing the ds-160 before the ceac status said ready.  Always wait for Montreal to have your case before doing ANYTHING with it including the DS-160.  This is just a warning to all.  I also suggest waiting 1-2 weeks after your case says ready to send the p3 of your own free will.

Yes, I've applied for and received my police certificate and long form birth cert.
When I went for the police certificate, I told them I needed it for immigration purposes.

Just make sure that they do the CPIC check for sure.
From what I read, people have said it is valid for one year.
Although, I am not sure if that is one year from "Date Received" or "Date Search Completed."
Regardless, let's hope it won't take that long!!

Their email specifically said to complete the DS-160.

Doesnt matter... HISTORICALLY speaking, from my 6 years on this website, you should wait until Montreal has the file, then do the DS-160 then in 1-2 weeks send the P3.  Generally most people who have that tiny bit of patience don't have issues with their P4 unless Montreal is backed up which happens to then about 3 times a year (Aug, late Nov-Dec, and Apr)

So due to it being a slower time when you first sent it, it may not have mattered regardless.  Wish you the best at your interview.

CHILL.

If there are instructions emailed to you, HISTORICALLY you follow them.
ESPECIALLY when you have been waiting for SEVERAL months for any instructions.

My case was "READY" as of APRIL 03 2018; Just received Packet 3 earlier today.
(I had sent P3 twice before they sent me the official P3 email)

I can confirm that P3 links to this same version of the check list. So if you are going to send P3 without receiving the official email, this one should be OK to follow: https://ca.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/27/2016/07/Packet3Instructions-K1.pd

Congrats on reaching the P3 stage.....we have to celebrate every little milestone in this process as it's just one step closer!!!

Also, thanks for the link - it's great to have confirmation that is the most recent version.

@SMK 89 Yes, I sent in the same Packet 3 again once the Embassy's email was received (like 10 minutes later, lol). There was no mention of previous emails received. The only difference in this submission was that I indicated in the email, "as requested on **date**."

P3 was received via email.
I don't recall providing my email address previously and I double checked the i-129f form and it doesn't appear to have asked for my email.

My theory is that they pick up whatever emails are listed in the supporting documentation provided in your application (IE hotel reservations, email printouts of travel confirmations, etc). My fiance and I were both confused as to how they sent the first two emails to his main email and also his alternative email (which he definitely did not include in the application). I just checked some of the docs that we provided and some of them listed his alternative email.

At this time, I am not able to see interview dates yet. I believe instructions to schedule the interview are sent along with Packet 4.

From P3:
"Please allow six weeks for the review of your case, after you send the required documents.  Upon completion of the review, the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal will send you a Packet 4 letter with instructions on how to get the medical exam done in Canada and how to schedule your immigrant visa appointment. Do not get your medical exam in advance as it has a limited validity!"

I have to admit I never thought about where they'd get your email address at this stage. I knew Canada consulate was all electronic but do they just really pick a random email from what we submit with our application? Or maybe Big Brother knows ALL and they don't even have to ask.....LOL I too had to double check my application because this really intrigues me. What about those applications that haven't submitted anything with an email address??? Are those P3's just mailed? You would think with many countries being "electronic" at the Consulate stage the I-129F would have asked for an email address.

Packet 3 indicates we need to provide copy of Marriage Certificate. Is this on the list because this list is also for those applicants going through the CR1 process and already married? It can't possibly be a marriage certificate from a previous marriage if I provide a Divorce Certificate? Can anyone confirm that? I can't imagine why a Marriage Certificate would be required from an already terminated marriage, but just want to make sure I'm not missing something as a Marriage Certificate from a failed marriage is not something I have kept around in my "keepsake box" (LOL).

Hello everyone,

253 days since our NOA1. We were approved yesterday at the interview in Montreal.

Concerning the marriage certificates, we did bring them but were told by everbody was completely unnecessary. Which they were. Divorce certificates were needed and taken. Many of the documents listed on DS-160 just weren’t needed. But better safe than sorry.

I never waited for them to send me packet 3.

Did they take the originals of the divorce decrees or copies? Just thinking ahead, thanks
